Had to get some Stephen King in during spooky season and this was the perfect read for it. It’s atmospheric, a little slow going at the start, but truly picks up and draws you in to the action and horror Ben Mears and the rest of the crew face.

I love a good story about things that go bump in the night. I also really appreciated the classic horror tropes and mythos about the villians (trying to avoid spoilers for anyone who doesn’t know much about the book). I liked feeling like I had enough common knowledge about “them” that I could have stood a chance alongside the protagonists.

Not my favorite King story, but definitely a classic. Would certainly recommend it to any horror-loving folks.

Started off spooky season early with this read and in terms of spookiness, it did not disappoint. It was certainly one of the darker YA novels I've read in a while - due to the subject matter and the very visual descriptions Douglass conjures up for the reader. The characters are pretty solid, the plot draws you in, and I loved the diversity.

If you're feeling up for a moody, non-conventional possession story that has a lot of heart and emotions, this is the book for you.

Harrowing, disturbing, and utterly sad. It's hard to believe what the author went through was true. So worth the read.

Absolutely loved it. For its humor and it's heart. It was just a fun read that makes you think a lot about your own life and the crazy things you could (and maybe should) be getting yourself into.
