Essentially this is an interconnected world with 4 separate series with overlapping characters. The first series follows Reagan an unspecified supernatural creature and bounty hunter working in New Orleans. She is a badass loner who eventually gets friends she just cannot shake. I really like the way that Breene writes women, they are total badasses but never loose the ability to be feminine or one dimensional. Also they don’t usually make dumbass decisions and nothing pisses me off more than stupid decision making. The series does have an over lapping narrative but for the most part each book is a pretty well contained story so no major cliffhangers. If you are in the market for a fun fantasy (set in this world? urban fantasy?) I would recommend it.
So I once again followed a Tiktok recommendation and ready Sacrificed to the Freedom Dragons (The Holiday Hedonism Series) by J.L. Logosz and Vera Valentine. It was, fine. Honestly it just kind of felt like a bunch of tropes thrown together into one series. Riva is ‘sacrificed’ by her town magistrate to the dragons which live nearby in order to secure peace. Turns out the dragons don’t eat, or at least consume *wink wink*, the women who are sacrificed but actually take them somewhere nice to live the rest of their life. Riva of course falls in love with the dragons and they get revenge and live happily ever after and fuck a lot. Honestly I don’t really remember it well which I feel like is indicative of what it was like.
