I picked this up because of a podcast recommendation. The premise sounded interesting. And it was, for about thirty pages. After that, it became boring and predictable.
While this novel was pretty decent, it didn't hold the amount of suspense I was looking for. All but one twist was predictable, and even that one didn't shock me too terribly. Overall, I did enjoy most of it enough to read more by Sager.
If this wasn't an assigned book for a writing class, I would never have picked it up. I'm sure it's someone's cup of tea, but it isn't mine. Flat characters, predictable storyline, and I rolled my eyes more times than I can count. Who in the hell eats this much chicken marsala in a month? And this thing with the shoes...it seemed thrown in there for no real reason.
That being said, parts of it were very funny. While the characters are flat, Min is believable. Truthfully, the best chapter was the last one. It was charming and funny.
