It started really well, but it had some issues on the second half.
The author really wants to abstain from making any moral judgment on often tries to "both-sides" arguments, which is fair. Bits of it are already outdated, so I'd like to read an updated edition of this.
I still found this reflexive and it made me interested in science and evolution for the first time.
The narrator is a bit dry, though.

It made me reevaluate the way I look at family stories and their importance in keeping culture and memory alive. Also, it has some of the best illustrations I've seen in a kids' book.

The historical approach is eye-opening, but I think I'd have appreciated this book more if it drew more parallels with the present, or shown more of the current impact racism has on black bodies and AFAB bodies. Would still recommend it, though, especially to health care workers who want to deconstruct their bias.

Fir a romcom, I didn't care much for the main couple. However, the family and the insights into Chinese culture were great. I loved the way this explored grief.
