My actual rating is 3.5.
As a fan of the games I really wanted to read this to see if it added anything to the story, and all I can say is yes it did!
The characters were well written, although I did find the main character sometimes very annoying. The horror was so well written that I had to stop reading at certain parts because I was really creeped out! (It was great! Lol)
I will be recommending this book to my friends who love the games as I think it gives them some extra information into the Five nights at Freddy's story.
I enjoyed reading this and I will add it has made my paranoia about robots so much worse! ;)

This was a really enjoyable book and I loved the characters, I did have some issues with the lead female but after a bit into the book she was much better. The story was funny and full of character development as well as some really emotional parts.
This was the first book by Cath Crowley I have read but I enjoyed it so much that I will be checking out her other books :)

Full review to come but lets have some closing comments shall we?

As the final book in the Demon Road Trilogy I was ready to finish this story, although I was worried, as I had mixed feelings about Desolation but American Monsters was amazing!
The characters were amazing and the story was finished perfectly. I will admit that I cried like a child near the end during my lunch break at work ( that was embarrassing!) but everything was mostly tied up.
there are a few things that aren't resolved but even then they are mentioned and that is good enough for me!
all my babies are amazing and the sass between Amber and Milo is perfection!
I will also add chapter 42 is my favorite, don't ask me why, I just loved it!

I loved this book and even though the second book was abit meh for me I enjoyed this Trilogy.

After finding Shane's youtube channel and pretty much binging ever video on there, I realised that I had seen his face before. No, it wasn't from other channels, not my nightmares but shane if you want to be apart of my nightmares feel free. I had seen his book last time I was in a bookstore.
As I loved Shane's sence of humor and wanted to know more about him, I picked up this book, boy was I happy I did, the stories that shane tells are very personal and full of heart, emotions and his dark sense of humor that I love.
I really enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about Shane Dawson or just after stories that will make you cringe and laugh.

What can I say apart from, I just love Jorg! Yeah he's a smart ass, sarcastic and a bit of a jerk, but hey you can't say he doesn't make the story interesting.
After I finished the Broken Empire Trilogy, I was a bit upset that there was no more of Jorg's story (I have heard he makes an appearance in the Red Queen's War trilogy, but I haven't read it yet.) so when I realized there was a few Novellas with Jorg in them I had to give them a read.
All in all I enjoyed Sleeping Beauty, the novella slipped into the story well, as it was supposed to fit in between King of Thorns & Emperor of Thorns, and stays true to Mark's style of writing with graphic details and is never shy at telling you details.
I enjoyed reading this short installment in the Broken Empire series and would recommend it to anyone who is reading or has read the trilogy and was wanting a bit more.

My full review is to come but until then let me leave you with one of my favourite quotes from this book.

Baron Vengeous: "are you going to shoot me?, I wouldn't be surprised. What would a thing like you know about honor?... "Only a heathen would bring a gun to a sword fight."

Skulduggery: "And only a moron would bring a sword to a gunfight."

“I was horribly bookish, to the point of coming right out and saying it, which I knew was not socially acceptable.”

When I first decided to read this book, I decided to ignore all the negative reviews around it and see what I thought about it, because I’m a strong believer of each to their own and not everyone likes the same things. I was so glad that I did decide to ignore the reviews because this book was adorable.

The story is told from the perspectives of Dash and Lily over the course of 12 days during the Christmas, New Year period. Lily leaves a red notebook in her favourite bookshop amongst her favourite authors books, this notebook is full of challenges and is just waiting for the right guy to come pick it up. As it turns out Dash find the red notebook in with his favourite author’s books and takes on the challenges from this mysterious Lily. This starts a romance that sends these two on adventures they never saw themselves doing and learning about themselves in the process.

Rachel Cohn and David Levithan both write fantastically, the writing is engaging and full of humour that had me chuckling to myself multiple times. All the characters a so unique that it’s like they pull them from their own lives and just added them to the pages. As the chapters jump from Dash to Lily, I often had to check the dates to check when they were experiencing certain things, which I didn’t mind at all. I actually really liked it.

Dash I liked but at times I found somewhat pertinacious and even at one point I just didn’t like him. The scene where he is at Macy’s and comments to an old women about her choice in mittens was really rude, although I did enjoy her telling him to “F*ck off” that was perfect payback. Apart from that and few moments of pretentiousness, Dash was an enjoyable character that grew on me as I read. By the end of the book I was just praying he wouldn’t do anything stupid to wreck his chances with Lily.

Speaking of Lily, let’s just talk about this little powerhouse. I loved Lily, she was cute, sweet, cleaver and her personality was just perfection. The way she thought was outside the box and even though at times I was like “Lily what are you doing?!” I had total faith she would make the right choices. The way she loves her family and is always connected to them, was very much like myself and I connected to her in that respect as well as the fact we are both a little different in our family’s eyes.

But of all the character to love in this book, I loved Boomer the most! I would seriously read a whole book for the events in this book from Boomer’s perspective because like he is described by Lily he is like a puppy, he would get easy distracted but you know he would tell you exactly how he feels. I loved Boomer so much! Rachel, David if you two could make a book about Boomer I would love you both forever!

Boomer is also my spirit animal in regards to love advice after he dropped this…

What if love isn’t a yes-or-no question? It’s not either you’re in love or you’re not. I mean, aren’t there different levels? And maybe these things like words and expectations and whatever, don’t go on top of the love. Maybe it’s like a map, and they all have their own place, and then when you see it from the sky- whoa."

I am looking forward to reading the newly released The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily, which was released in October 2016. After reading the synopsis for it I’m looking forward to seeing how everything will continue and to read about all the characters again. I might even look into more of Rachel & David’s books as I enjoyed this one so much.

Rating: 4 Stars- Really good, I would recommend reading it.

Happy reading everyone!

Jess.

“Look to the sky. You will not find answers there, but you will certainly see what everyone is screaming about.”

Welcome to Night Vale, a popular podcast filled with amazing characters, a great story and a lot of weirdness is told via our protagonist (if you can call him that), Cecil, as he hosts the small desert towns community radio station.

I have been a fan of the podcast for many years. So when the Welcome to Night Vale: A Book was announced to be coming out in 2015, I knew I had to read it.

It was the same when they announced in 2016 they would be releasing the first two volumes of the Welcome to Night Vale scripts. I knew that I needed them to add to my collection.

The Great Glowing Coils of the Universe consists of the scripts for episode 26 to 49, as well as the script for their live show The Debate. Each episode is introduced by a small introduction from either the creators, co-writers or the voice actors themselves, these are amazing as they give insight into what they thought of the episode or what inspired them when writing the episode.

Each episode mentions the weather (musical performance) so what I found myself doing is having the music ready to go and when I reached that part I would stop reading and listen to the weather. This not only gave me a break but also added to the experience.

One of my favourite features in the script volumes is the amazing artwork by Jessica Hayworth that accompanies every episode. These pictures fit each episode and even thought they are in black and white they fit the book perfectly and are amazing. Jessica has worked with the team at Welcome to Night Vale for a while, creating posters, t-shirts and even the cover of this book.

Her art fits perfectly with the strange town of Night Vale and I would highly recommend checking out some of Jessica’s work. Just Google Jessica Hayworth and her website will pop right up!

One of my favourite episodes from this volume would have to be Episode 28- Summer Reading Program, this episode features some of my favourite quotes like...

“Get into a good book this summer” and “We are going to force you into a good book this summer” and “You are going to get inside this book and we are going to close it on you and there is nothing you can do about it”
And
“Catch the flesh-eating reading bacterium”

But it is always hard to pick your favourite episode over all and I never think I could pick one episode that is my all time favourite.

All in all I loved reading these scripts and as I am up to date with the Podcast, which just reached its 100th episode (congrats guys!), it was great to go back to the beginning and remember all the things that have helped make this show what it is.

If you are a Welcome to Night Vale fan I would defiantly recommend getting the script books for your collections, they are beautiful to just look at or flip through.
What is your favourite Welcome to Night Vale episode? I would love to know.

Rating: 4 Stars- Really good, I would recommend reading it.

Happy reading everyone!

Jess.

It doesn't matter how many times I read this series I will never get tired of all the twist and turns, the characters interactions or even the pure awesomeness of the fight scenes.
Even thought the final fight in Dark Days wasn't as spectacular as the other books, it it fully made up for by the action though out the book. I can't wait to work on my review for this book and share some of my favourite scenes and quotes with you all.

“Tommi Grayson: all bark, all bite... and now she’s BACK!”

After reading Who’s Afraid? last year, I knew I needed more Tommi Grayson. So when I met Maria Lewis at Supanova and she informed me that it was going to be a series with at least 4 books, well I lost it!

Who’s Afraid Too? continues following the story of Tommi Grayson as she leaves her life in Dundee to go to Berlin to train with the Rouges, a group of lone werewolves, there she encounters a new evil and with the help of her new friends aims to take down this evil.

This book was everything I had hoped it would be, Maria’s writing is full on intense moments but always with a slither of humour wedged in there, the way she describes locations, weather, characters and even smells, is amazing and really draws you into the story making you feel like you’re there experiencing it. Another thing I love about Maria’s writing is all the pop culture references weaved into the story, there was so many times I burst out laughing only to look up and be greeted by a family member looking at me like I was crazy, I usually got away with it by saying ‘sorry... the werewolf was being sassy’. They don’t think I’m weird at all!

I had promised myself that I was going to take my time reading this books, but like always I went through it so fast that I am now sitting here at my laptop sad over the fact I have to wait a full year for the next book, which it not fair, I’m so emotionally attached to so many character! I need all my babies back!

Tommi as always is an amazing protagonist. She is smart, strong and so sassy. While I was reading I was even more drawn to her and all I want is the best for my sassy werewolf baby. During this book she hones her skills and discovers some new skills she didn’t even know she had. She is just becoming more and more of an amazing, strong female protagonist that I am always craving to read about.

Lorcan... Mr. Lorcan MacCarthy, I have an issue! After the first book I loved him, I was ready for him and Tommi to get together, and even in the first half I was on Lorcan’s side, but after his actions I just don’t think his good enough for Tommi. I still love him and he will also be such an amazing bad ass but I’m keeping an eye on him throughout the series.
Tommi doesn’t need a man to be happy!

Like I mentioned before there was a lot of new characters we were introduced to, we had the Rouges with consisted of Clayton, Zillia, Dolly, Sanjay & Gus. The twins from the Praetoria Guard, Jaira & Jake and then we have probably my favourite new character of all time, Heath Darkiro from the Praetoria Guard.

As much as I love all the Rouges, as soon as Heath came on the scene I was like ‘well looks like I have a new favourite character of all time!’ he was just so sarcastic. At first I was worried that he would do something and turn against the team, but no he just got better and better and by the end of the book I was sad that I had to wait until the next book to see Heath and Tommi hang out again and just become amazing Bros! Heath is now my new Lorcan... (Sorry Lorcan!! Love ya Bae!) How could you not love him when during a serious meeting he comes out with lines like this?

“It's like the villains aren't even trying to be creative anymore. Personally I was hoping for more of a castle we could storm or something with a moat.”

As much as I loved the first book, I enjoyed Who’s Afraid Too? a lot more, I’ m not even sure why. All I can say is I am so excited for the next book in the series and to see where this story is heading as well as see Tommi being a total bad ass.

I would recommend this series to anyone who likes Fantasy and a bit of the Paranormal with a splash of romance thrown in. This series will always been on my most Anticipated list each year and I will always be on the lookout for when Maria Lewis is on tour in my area.

Now if you will kindly excuse me I need to go find someone to draw me fan art of Heath... It’s not weird! You’re weird!

Rating-5 Stars- Amazing! I loved it!!

Happy reading everyone!
Jess.
