Chesterton's Father Brown books were far more compelling than this. I'm not sure why he was inspired to write about anarchy in London, but the effect was not a good one. Perhaps I am simply lacking context, but the story felt predictable and somewhat stilted.

2.5 stars.

pure guilty pleasure braincandy. The characters are one dimensional, right down to way-too-good-at-everything Anna. having said that, i picked this up due to hearing part of it via Graphic Audio presentation. and if there is anything you can say for GA, its that they can turn a C-list book into at least a high B presentation.

The first one was fun, this devolved into predictable formula. I know Archer is a pen name for a group of authors, but this lacked any real cohesive narrative. It also missed the historicity of the first. The brain candy was fun while it lasted, but now its over.
