The first book tried to do too much in terms of pulling assorted literary women together... This book trebled the effort and suffered all the more for it.

The idea was fascinating, and I imagine there is going to be a very good plot payoff as the trilogy continues. But I cannot abide by a particular plot device that was used - especially what it means for the main character, who happens to be LGBTQ+.
