I didn't read the blub. I should have read the blurb.

This is a prequel to a taboo series involving a student and teacher. The student is a junior in high school. I'm the mom of a junior in high school so right from the jump I was not feeling this.

Our girl Jayden seems to live in a Carrie type household. Naive to the world with an abusive mother. Mr. Hunter is the new PE teacher who has a lot of ominous secrets. He finds her taking a shower and we get a time jump and it ends with them in bed. Like WTF. I like taboo and I've read high school romance and age gap but this one just doesn't seem like it's up my ally. NO hate, I plan on reading Dark Vanessa this year and I read Tampa a few years ago. But I'm finna pass on the full length of this one. 

 Wow, this was a great introduction to Gypsy-Rose as a flawed human being who takes full accountability in her role regarding her mother's death, as a traumatized person who turned to drugs and dangerous behaviors to cope with the abuse, lack of self-worth, and a need for validation, as a victim of multiple abuses by multiple perpetrators, that manipulated, lied, and betrayed her, and as the woman who found freedom behind prison bars. (I know super run on sentence don't be hatin)

I really enjoyed this introduction and hearing about her growth, her plans for the future, seeing her vulnerability, and desire to simply live a happy life.

Looking forward to her full memoir. 

 This is a collection of poems that address trauma. Not just experiencing it but acknowledging that it can happen to anyone, speaking up when we see others who are struggling, embracing our inner strength, and helping others find theirs.

The author challenges readers to really examine their feelings, to abandon the default "I'm good" and really answer the question of How Are You?? What are you feeling?

This was a peaceful, inspiring read. My only issue was how heavily the author focused on putting your faith and trust into God and using both to find your personal strength. With that said the forward was very clear that the author wrote this book after she did just that. My disinterest in that aspect is subjective and in no way takes away from all the inspiration and love poured into this collection.

I would highly recommend this, even to those who aren't religious. 

I'm writing this review 10 Months after reading this story. Why the wait? Because I dropped the ball.  But I never forgot how this story made me feel, the shock value, and the sweet taste of revenge. 

This was a FREE short offered on Rene's website. I jumped on it with no expectations or inkling as to what it was about.  

Page One this story kicks off with our girl laying in a grave while her man covers her in dirt.  Like what?! From there we learn that Azura is NOT human. She is an Enchanter with powers that make her hard to kill and allow her to leave her corporal body and inhabit others. 

Which makes her ability to get revenge soo much fun and her sorry ass pro athlete killer baby daddy does not stand a chance against her. I loved it.
