"I’ve never had a guy give me a pervert’s severed fingers before. It’s my new benchmark for total romance."- Scarlett Force

Did I just drop a 5 star rating?? Hell yes I did!! There is so much going on in this one. Scarlett is beyond bad ass. Sexy, terrifying, and fearless. Let's chat about this.

First let me just say that this is the second series I've read by C.M. Stunich. The first being The Lost Daughter of a Serial Killer trilogy. I was not a fan of the heroine of THAT series. However, it features a charismatic serial killer who I absolutely adored and am rooting for in the upcoming final book.

I bring this up because, if you are like me and are prone to root for the villain then this is the series for you!! There are no heroes in this, just a bunch of toxic, badass, morally grey, power hungry, bloody, deviants surviving this messed up world.

I don't even know where to start. I love Scarlett in general. her look, her bravery, her backstory, her swagger and sarcasm, she's EVERTHANG for me.

"F*ckboy" Run Down:

Kellin Bohnes, this sexy af alpha shadow f*kboy gave me Night Huntress vibes. I could not read his name without thinking of my favorite vampire. The way that Bohnes expresses himself, his special skills, his protectiveness and interactions with Scarlett gave me super Cat & Bones vibes. With that said, he also gave me Spike from Buffy vibes minus the British accent. Also he's totally NOT a vampire but come one his stealth and lethalness is undeniably otherworld.

Adrian Arden Lawless aka Widow, his backstory will have you feeling some kind of way. They all have sad backstories but his is just... yeah.

Alexei Grove is an aristocratic Russian assassin germaphobe whose special needs are intriguing.

Aspen Kelly.... you will both hate and love him.

This story is fast paced. There is sex, murder, friendship, toxic behavior, political corruption, car races, lies, big reveals, plot twists, and so much more. It's insane, entertaining, and everything I didn't know I needed.

"No villains. No heroes. Just messy, ugly, disgusting, infallible, incongruous, hypocritical, and violent people. That’s it." - Scarlett Force

Everyone was in their feelings with this one. The guys all want to kill each other, as well as kill anyone that so much as looks at Scarlett with less than kind intentions.

Scarlett is juggling sooo much and doing so with determination and without hesitation. I love her.

This book has wayyyyyyy more spice than book one. The foundations for future bromances are being laid but not consciously or willingly. As a reader, you will definitely see some fragile trust and alliances being made between the men.

I really appreciate rhetoric in regard to exploring one's wants, interests, and lack of interest in monogamy, especially at such a young age. I feel like the writers from Degrassi could probably use this RH as inspiration for a special. LOL

I am not happy that I stupidly thought the third book was dropping THIS month and not in 2 months. Luckily, while this has a nail-biting cliffhanger but it's not one that will keep you up at night crying because the author drinks our tears. It's more Duke of Hazzards....

This story is so incredibly complex, thought provoking, and emotional that it could be used as a study reference and discussion guide in a variety of educational courses including but not limited to pharmaceutical use, psychological, sociological, sexual studies, LGBT studies, humanities, and criminal justice. I could probably do a 12-hour podcast series just discussing all the themes in this story. It's that intense.

I want to address the subject matter that caused Amazon to ban this book within 24 hours of its release. This is a story about identical twin brothers who have both a sexual and emotional relationship with one another spanning over the course of years starting at age 15. Later in the story their stepdad becomes involved with them both individually and together. Obviously, he is older and things become sexual in nature weeks before their 18th birthday. This tidbit alone would turn a great number of people off. But not me, because I know Nyla K doesn't do shit for shock value and this story had so much more depth and meaning than just taboo sex.

I want to address the "sibling taboo". We as a society see this a lot. The theme of siblings hooking up be it biological, step, or adoptive is nothing new. If you go on Porn Hub right now and do a search there are over 200,000 videos (yes I checked). There would NOT be that many videos if the demand for it wasn't there. Same with books. A quick Kindle search showed over 10,000 results for the tagline SIBLING ROMANCE. Don't even get me started on the many movies and shows where dating "sisters or brothers" is played with. Also, I want to point out that I am BIG on Reverse Harem reads and there are several big name authors who like to include brothers if not twins as partners for the heroine. This is not new, apparently it makes some uncomfortable because they don't want to admit that society is pretty perverse. So now that I've address the shock value of the fact that these are siblings, if this was something turning you off, I'm telling you right now to get over it, because the actual emotional depth of this book goes beyond any reservations or mock outrage over the fact that our main characters are brothers.

In 40 states right now, the age of consent is UNDER the age of 18. For 34 states the age of consent is ONLY 16. I verified this shit on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website. In this book, the boys are literally less than a month from their 18th birthday. Unless you were incredibly sheltered, many of us know that emotional maturity cannot be determined by a calendar. Some of us are forced to grow up quicker. As a parent, do I want my 17-year-old dating a 40 year old man? Nope. But as a fiction reader did I demand that Twilight be removed from the shelves because a 200 year old vampire was chasing Bella Swan?? Nope. This is fiction. Get off your soap box Karen, if fictional characters have you clutching your pearls I can only imagine how you process the real horror that goes on in this world.

Triggers: Undiagnosed/Untreated/Mistreated Mental Health, Emotional Abuse, Suicidal Thoughts and Attempts, Domestic Violence, Drug & Alcohol Use, Homophobia, Bullying, Aggressive Sex and a scene that could be debated as rape. It's so grey I can't say that there is rape in this book but I can say that if rape is a trigger, then maybe beware of the Honeymoon.

Last, READ the FREAKING Author's Note. Nyla is incredibly open about what to expect when reading. I will say that prior to completing the book I thought there was NO possible way for an HEA, or my accepting an intense emotional relationship between siblings. I still can't say that I'd be totally cool with the idea if it were to happen with my kids. Pretty sure I'd lose my shit but at the same time I didn't abuse my kids to the point where they developed a strong codependency and need to hold on to their sibling. SMH... I will say this, that Love is Love, and if it's not harmful to anyone outside of the individuals engaging in said relationship then who are we to try and be judge, jury, and executioner?

adventurous dark sad fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I can NOT believe that this is it. I try very hard not to start incomplete series. When I read Kings of Chaos it was by accident. It was a late night one click. I had NO idea who Eva Ashwood was or how incredibly addicting her characters are. While waiting for this series to be complete, I read her completed series The Dark Elite and Black Rose Kisses. I also joined her Facebook Group *highly recommend. I am now looking forward to reading her upcoming series Filthy Wicked Psychos that will have some cross over from both Kings of Chaos and Black Rose Kisses.

Alright let's talk about this book. Not only is it beyond HOTTT but the action, mafia politics, and bombshells it will keep you on your toes. River has done a complete 360. Her character growth throughout the series is commendable. I am so proud of our girl. She has emotionally matured. Her ability to communicate her thoughts and feelings as well as accept love and support from others was a true journey. The men had a lot of growth as well. Knox probably was the most changed throughout the 4 books for me. Still your everyday blood thirsty psychopath just adorable.

I wish I could say MORE about this book. But I don't want to do a play by play, accidently giving anything away. All you need to know is that anyone who comes for River or her boys has their ass handed to them. There are a few surprises, intros to new characters, as well as camos from other series. There is death and injuries but all is overcome and the HEA is perfect and savage AF. There is an option to get a bonus scene at the end of this book. It's totally worth the read. My greedy eyes couldn't look away as I needed to devour any and ever tidbit on the Kings and their Queen.

Series is Highly Recommended

This book was chosen for the Grumpy/Sunshine book discussion in my reader's group. I had NEVER heard of Lucy Score and to be honest I the cover did not appeal to me. I ASSumed this would be a basic office romance read like all the other ones where the underling shows her boss the light and they fall in love and have their HEA.

Welp, you know what they say about ASSuming. This book had so much more depth than I was prepared for. So many fantastic social themes were examined. Poverty, Pet Adoption, Feminism, The Me Too Movement, Senior Care, Dementia, Sibling Adoption, Disability Awareness, Sexual Harassment, Transparency, the need for affordable healthcare, and Mental Health Awareness to name a few.

Our female lead, Ally was fantastic. She was a bad bitch with a sunny disposition. She was hard working, confident in her abilities, comfortable with her body, honest, not only did she respect herself, she demanded respect.

There is a scene where she tells dude that she does not owe him anything and I was there for it!!!

Our male lead, Dominic was a grump, but he was in no way toxic. I HATE and I mean absolutely HATE it when an author allows toxic behavior. Dom like many male grumps had a bad father figure who left him with hang ups. With the exception of our female lead, he disengaged and held his tongue, leaving him with the reputation of being a bit of an ice king. He was funny and thoughtful yet a bit self-righteous and had a bit of a caring for others complex. Dude wanted to feel needed. He was a giver who didn't always have healthy boundaries. Don't worry this is address and at one point his mama tells him that at his age he has NO business trying to use his childhood as a shield.

Again, I was there for it because YASSSS, no one's childhood is perfect, that's what therapy is for. Stop being a victim and become a survivor, we all need to learn our triggers, set boundaries, and have coping mechanism. Self-awareness is the first step towards self-care. JMO

There were some obvious cliche office romance themes. Poor girl, rich boss who wants to take care of her but not claim her. There's a bit of Pride and Prejudice mixed with The Devil Wears Prada.

Overall I highly recommend this book, will be looking into this author, and would love to see this as a Netflix Limited series.

I want to be F*ked so good that I can't drive. This story is FIRE. Had me sweating, on the edge of my seat, a bitch almost bit through her own lip.

Gabriel is everything I NEVER knew I needed in my life. I have had Harley Laroux's full length Soul's Trilogy in my TBR for almost a year. I am trying to be strong and wait for the final book to drop so I can binge read the entire series at once. This series of shorts was highly recommended in my reader group and I can see why. IF this is the level of daddy dom action I have to look forward to in her full length books, a bitch just might need to take a few days off and charge up all of the toys.

I liked it. I didn't LOVE it. But I liked it. This is the second story in the Dirty Dates trilogy, and I think the issue is the first one was so unexpected and thrilling that maybe I went into the second a bit bias.

I didn't like Aiden. I didn't care for how he was described, and he just wasn't smooth. You can be a dom and still be charming. He was just a bit too aggressive for me. IF you watch porn, which is a bit of a hobby of mine, you might be familiar with Small Hands. I am NOT a fan of Small Hands. Yes he's built and gets the job done, he does everything to completion BUT there is just something about his vibe that doesn't do it for me. I need me an Owen Grey. Just sayin... Aiden is NOT an Owen Grey. However our girl was all about humiliation so maybe SHE needed a Small Hands.

This story is filled with lots of kinks. Shit was pretty spicy. I think for me, if a portion had not happened in a more open and populated space I would have rated this a bit higher.

New Kinks Unlocked

This is the final book in the Dirty Date trio and it was by far the best. Talk about going out with a BANG.

Rafe can be my daddy. This couple needs a full length book. Their chemistry was everything. Not just sexual but by fair the most comfortable and natural connection. Didn't feel like you were reading a scene. I loved it.

I expected this to be a quick, sweet, meet cute romance. What I got was a bit of voyeurism, dirty talk, and spice. This is my first read by this author. I am very pleased to say she excited expectations.

Hailey is an accomplish author who is struggling with the sexy time edits on her most recent book. As a dedicated professional she has no choice but to listen through the walls and take notes for her very hot neighbor's sexcapades. This story moves very quickly. On the surface the characters seem a bit green when it comes to actually communicating romantic feelings but hang tight it will all make sense in the end.
