So the author's note through me off. It was defensive and unnecessary in my opinion. I almost didn't read the book based on that alone.
However, I felt that would have been petty. This story is super cute. No there isn't any sex but there is chemistry and anticipation. That kiss is worth the wait. I enjoyed the connection and communication the main characters had for one another.

This book was recommended after I asked for a praise kink book rec.
I want to say that this story was spot on in that department. Very heavy on praise and bdsm protocals
.
With that said, the main characters had a very strong EMOTIONAL connection. I would say stronger than sexual chemistry.
The overall storyline is solid. I was shook, reading what felt like an ASCPA/ADOPT AN ORPHAN commercial pertaining to humans. The constant reinforcement that humans were treated as pets/slaves was so frustrating. I like my oppression out in the open. Not with backhanded smiles. Those are the types of people whose ancestors try to argue that their slave owning greats loved their slaves like family. SMH...
Ethan, my sweet boy. OMG I adored him so much and was so angry on his behalf. He has a disability that is not recognized which leads to his mistreatment.
Kip (yeah, I shortened his name) is totally alpha, analytical, thoughtful, and has the biggest heart.
Even though this story is about Kip and Ethan, I really don't know if I would classify it as romance with the overall storyline. It's exciting and ominous. I don't know why but I got Fifth Element Vibes while, reading this. Maybe Bruce Willis can play a 4-armed alien?!?!

That cliffhanger! Are you F*king kidding me?!?!
This entire book I was on the edge of my seat. I knew foul shit was going to go down but not what or when and it kept me on eggshells. Then when we FINALLY get the action there's a cliffhanger.
It was on me. My mistake, my bad. I assumed this was a duet. It's not. the author clearly states this is a series. Books 1&2 came out in 2021 so I can only hope that more books will be dropping in 2022.
I love this story. We now have multiple couples that you want to devour. Ethan and Kip (yeah I shortened his name). The love and devotion they have for one another is that of envy. Ethan's struggle with anxiety and grief is emotional. His love for his sister and Kip's support through it all is just so commendable.
I am very happy this was my first book of the new year and I look forward to the rest of the series.

I thought this was a really adorable high school romance. I think we all have a guy in high school that matches the MC perfectly. The big, shy, nice guy. The one chicks hug but don't date that was Zach. He was adorably insecure yet protective of Jill. Book smart but totally oblivious as to her attraction to him because he just didn't feel worthy.
I'm not big on reading high school romance but this was Varsity Blues for me.
I loved Zach so much. I especially loved it when he talked dirty. LOL There is nothing better than a good shy guy losing control. Jill was alright. I didn't love or hate her. She was sweet, a bit dramatic, poor communication skills but she's what Zach wanted.
I enjoyed this short sexy story.

Parker and Daws...
Parker is a young inexperienced fashion designer who totally goes Rhianna Fenty and decides she NEEDS this plus size man to rock her line during fashion week.
Daws is an older bar owner and ex security guard (which as nothing to do with anything but okay) who is instantly attracted to Parker and will eat glass if she asks him.
I'm going to be honest I gave no fucks about this storyline or the shitty antagonist that tried to stir the pot. The physical chemistry between these two was sizzling. I loved every interaction, every touch, every word, every everything. I had to re-read a few scenes to make sure I hadn't missed anything like them being exposed to voyeurs.
It was HOT. I greatly enjoyed it and have no complaints.

Angelica and Murph
The storyline was sooooo bad. Angelica is an 18/19 year old pop star and Murph's best friend's daughter. Right before she sky rockets to stardom there's an incident which escalates Murph's crush into an obsession.
Angelica annoyed me. She was super horny and aggressive. Felt no guilt about pursuing her daddy's best friend. Murph on the other hand is super conflicted and struggles which leads to a very interesting kink discovery.
Honestly the kink is the ONLY thing that saved this one for me. It's a quick read, obviously it's fiction and doesn't need to be believable but I struggle when I can't stand the characters which was Angelica for me. *shrugs*

This story has awoken my love for historical and royal romances. It's been so long I forgot how exciting, fun, and sexy they can me. I had so many vibes.
King Corbet is attending the Joining (a bi-annual match making festival) despite his vow to never marry. Poor thing had a tumultuous childhood that has skewed his view on monogamy and commitment. However, when he sets eyes on thick and sassy Lady Gwen, he finds himself pulled with a need to claim her but only as a mistress of course. Because you know, who needs feelings and equality mixed in with sex.
Lady Gwen is a bad ass bitch. She has been working the family farm and caring for her sisters for years since her parents' death. She is not a dainty flower, but she loves herself, has values, and wants to show the girls that they can do and be anything. Sadly, due to circumstances she has found herself in need of husband. She goes to the Joining with ONE GOAL. Find a good man, with money, who will treat her as an equal, be kind to her sisters, and has coin to help her get back on her feet.
It seems a bit all barbaric if this wasn't set in historical times where bad ass bitches weren't so few and far in between. Bu the hilarity of Cobert chasing this woman begging for a piece will help settle your feminine outrage.
These two prove you can do a lot without popping that cherry and that a woman can have a bit of fun while staying on course to achieving their goals.
I loved loved loved this story and highly recommend. This was my 6th Jessa Kane read of the month and the absolute BEST of them all.
