This is sometimes a bit hard to swallow (single women almost always struggle to be as successful as single men, etc.) but so important. Rebecca Traister weaves together the stories of single women through history, noting all the social, political, economic, sexual, and emotional bits. We have this idea that it’s only recently that women have wanted to live a single life, but it turns out it’s always been pretty common. Just not talked about as much.

If you’ve ever wondered what the journal of an introvert looks like, it’s basically this little book. It’s chock full o’ comics with jokes about just wanting to be alone and on the couch without pants on. I identify deeply with each comic.

Hidden Hemingway: Inside the Ernest Hemingway Archives of Oak Park
Robert K. Elder, Mark Cirino, Aaron Vetch
Hidden Hemingway is a fascinating look at a fascinating man. It focuses on his ties to Oak Park, Illinois, and goes on to give snippets of the rest of his life after moving to Paris in the 1920s. It's a great primer for a newcomer to the Hemingway world: We get his family tree, his school spelling tests, his high school yearbook photos, his newspaper articles. Really, really well done piece of work here.
