She has spent her entire life serving the people, talking to spirits, and living for others rather than herself, wile he has spent his life patrolling the streets fighting Nightmares dreaming about becoming a hero, yet one faithful night has them swapping bodies and encountering each other... and soon they will have to learn to work together to save their perspective worlds from disaster. Yumi is a Chosen, she is the one that talks to the spirits and helps those in her society. She lives a rigid life of obedience, shelter, and being taught that the needs of society override her own. Painter lives in a world run by Nightmares, literal creatures that come alive and through painting, people can combat them. He wants nothing more than to be an actual hero, to be more than what he is. They both are so alone in their world, yet suddenly they find themselves thrown together, quite literally when their bodies are swapped yet they can both see and talk to one another. They'll have to find a way to work together to figure out how to save their perspective worlds and how they can make a relationship work when they are from two different worlds. This one is a bit odd to me, I can see that its inspired by Japanese and Korean stories, shows, etc, but somehow it managed to feel so slow and boring. I really wanted to like this one but I just found it to be so slow. The entire premise was interesting, especially since its just about two people from different worlds swapping bodies and there being magical creatures/spirits too, yet this one constantly felt like it took. too long to get to the point. This one definitely felt like a young adult novel and Yumi read so young. It's an interesting premise but the overall story kind of felt lacking and the pacing felt so slow. I was drawn in by the premise and the gorgeous cover yet it just didn't live up to my expectations unfortunately. It's not a bad book by any means, it just wasn't as exciting as I had anticipated. If you enjoy magical young adult stories with a very slow burn romance, then this would definitely be for you!

A sweet and beautifully illustrated story about being anxious and how to deal with it from the perspective of a child. This was such a great read. It's perfect for kids and learning how to deal with feeling anxious.

With the help of her Amazonian sisters, Diana will learn the story of Hero while also going on an adventure herself. This was such a delightful and fun read. It's a great one for kids starting to get to know Wonder Woman's story!

A new look into the superhero Static's teenage life, dealing with being a superhero, heartbreak, and more! Virgil Hawkins is a superhero, he's Static, and he's got abilities over electricity. Juggling being a hero and having a relationship is not easy, so when his girlfriend breaks up with him, he decides to go to a music festival with his best friend... but there is his ex as well as so much other trouble. Now Virgil will have to find a way to mend his broken heart and maintain role as a hero! This was a really fun modern day look into the classic hero, I use to watch the show when I was a kid and couldn't help but want to read the comic when DC had it up! It was a fun modern take on it and I think a lot of people will enjoy getting to see Static!

An all consuming obsession, cruelty like a game, and two girls who are one moment away from tearing each other apart. Clay is the princess, a beautiful wealthy girl who has one single obsession, getting under Olivia's skin... but what Olivia doesn't know is that Clay wants to hurt her so badly because she wants to be the only thing that Olivia thinks about because for Clay... her mind is consumed by Olivia. Olivia "Liv" is the openly out girl who lives on the poor side of town, all she wants is to get into the theater program at Dartmouth and survive school, she only has a few more months and that means all she has to do is survive Clay's venom for a few months... but Clay is escalating the game... and now Liv has had enough. Liv knows that Clay is obsessed with her, that under her good girl facade, under the spoiled princess, is someone who Liv can't stop thinking about. The more Clay and Olivia ramp up their games the more pain they'll inflict on one another... but as the saying goes... sometimes to best way to deal with venom is with antivenom... which just happens to be more venom. Clay is obsessed with Liv but she isn't out, it's her little secret, she's suppose to be the picture perfect girl for her family, but she wont let Liv escape her, if she can't have Liv no one else can and she'll tear apart anyone who gets in her way. But the question becomes... what if the only person in Clay's way is herself? Clay and Liv were AMAZING. This book was EVERYTHING for me. Morally grey girls who are toxic to each other but deeply obsessed? Check. The "only I can hurt her" and "she's mine" trope? Check. The "You are the only person for me" and "I only think about you" but make it toxic and amazing? Check. Seriously this book was a dream come true. It's giving villain girls romance and I LIVE FOR IT. I had such a blast with this one and I absolutely adored the relationship between Liv and Clay so much. Seriously, I can't stop thinking about this book at all, so DEFINITELY add it to your tbr!

Frenemies/exes are forced to work together to create the perfect fall formal but sparks are beginning to fly. Whit loves autumn, it's the time her grandparents fell in love, it's when Pumpkin spice lattes are back, and everything about it just makes her happy. Whit's been having a tough summer, having PCOS and all that comes with it, from gaining weight, losing hair, growing hair, the exhaustion, the pain, and just not being able to know what is happening to her. But with school back and the fall formal coming up, Whit is determined to make this fall the best one ever. Whit is a perfectionist, some might say a control freak, and is determined to do the best, but when she has to work with Isiah "Zay" her ex boyfriend who ghosted her in middle school, and the now very hot skater boy who takes everything in stride (the complete opposite of her), Whit knows its going to be a difficult time, or is it? The more time they spend together the more Whit finds herself falling for him. Yet she is also dealing with family drama, her chronic illness (that she's been keeping a secret) and her struggle with wanting to make the fall formal perfect. Can she get her perfect autumn or are some things out of her control? This was a really cozy autumn read, filled with second chance romance, the autumn vibes for days, and a bi Latina character who is dealing with PCOS. It had a lot of great diversity and the attention to family bound and culture was beautiful. The romance was sweet and I liked all the side characters and their plots too. I really liked seeing Whit grow and seeing her allow herself to relax and to overcome a lot of her struggles. It really was a fun read overall and the perfect book to add to your autumn tbr.

In a world where people are gifted with different types of magics that correlate with the tides/moon phase, a teen mage must unravel the secret behind the death of her former friend and the secret society that she was caught up in. Emory is a student at the prestigious Aldryn College for Lunar magics, yet her healing magic is mediocare at best. Yet what happened to her the previous summer haunts her, what happened when she stumbles in on her ex best friend and a group of the most talented students committing a ritual that results in everyone dying but Emory.... she can't remember what happened or why and she'll do anything to figure it out. The only problem is that her own magic has changed since that incident and now she is discovering she has forbidden magic and that the only person to help her is the school's most reclusive student and her former best friend's brother. As Emory seeks answers she'll find herself drawn into the secret society and a world of privelege and power. Unfortunately for me this book fell completely flat after the 30% mark. I tried and tried to make this book work but I was completely bored and it was such a trudge to make it to the end. This book was SLOW and so long for no reason whatsoever. It's the first book in the series and I am not interested in continuing it at all. Emory is so annoying and there is literally NO chemistry between any of the characters. The mystery itself was boring and I really wish it wasn't. This book was advertised as Ninth House meets A Deadly Education, two book series that I absolutely adore and yet this one completely missed the mark in all cases. The characters weren't interesting, the mystery felt lacking, the pacing was clunky and slow, and honestly this kind of felt like a mess. I pushed myself to finish this books in hopes that it would get better, yet it didn't. Maybe it's a case of "its me not you" but for a book that features a magical school, murder mystery, and some romance, it should have been perfect for me yet it just wasn't. If you enjoy super slow magical school mystery stories then give this a go, maybe it'll work for you.

Magni animi numquam moriuntur. Great minds never die. A girl who is an outsider finds herself joining an exclusive society but begins seeing the ghost and feels herself losing time while being possessed by someone, the question is who. Tara goes to Corbin College, and dreams about being accepted into the elite academic society, Magni Viri and get a chance to experience free tuition, inspirational professors and the dream job when she graduates. When she finds the dead body of a girl who was part of the Magni Viri society, a girl that she envied and wish she could be, the last thing she expects is to be invited into the society to replace said girl. Yet once she is there her writing is suddenly better and she feels as if she's losing herself, literally, as she begins losing time and her writing is no longer her own and that someone is possessing her while she feels like she is being haunted by the dead girl she replaced. Can she figure out what is happening in this secret society before it's too late? This book was driving me crazy because I recognized the plot and couldn't place it and then realized it was literally Down A Dark Hall by Lois Duncan (and there was a film version too). Unfortunately this one missed the mark for me, it had a nice dark academia/gothic mystery with a sapphic romance in it too however it just felt kind of lacking and since I already knew where the plot was going I wasn't exactly surprised. The story felt kind of slow and I was hoping for something more but that's just me. I feel like if I didn't already know Down a Dark Hall, I would have enjoyed this more. If you enjoy dark academia/gothic mysteries with a bit of a haunting and a tiny bit of romance give this a go!

A second chance to get revenge against the prince who broke her heart and murdered her? Mingshin will save her family, herself, and take down the man who broke her heart while discovering a love she never expected. Mingshin outsmarted three princes to help the man she loved become king... only Ren's betrayal was something she never saw coming. Ren throws her in prison, lets her die from her wounds, and tells her he never loved her and was using her to become king and was in love with her beautiful cousin the entire time. With her dying breath she makes a prayer to the gods to turn back time and give her a second chance to make things right. Suddenly she wakes up two years earlier with her prayer being granted. With vengeance in her heart, Mingshin vows to right all the wrongs and save her family while destroying all those who betrayed her and making sure that Ren never gets near the throne. Ren hides behind a thousand masks but Mingshin has seen his true face and she'll do anything to thwart him. The first thing she must do is protect her mother and those she holds close from her treacherous uncle and his children, in her first life they murdered them and now Mingshin will have to find a way to avoid death. Then there is the case of Ren, her ex-lover who keeps coming around, but to her surprise she finds herself allying with Jieh, another prince contender for the throne, someone she disliked when she met him in her first life as he was snoby... but now she finds herself running into him constantly and Jieh seems very interested in her. To make matters more complicated there is a mysterious newcomer to the court with magic... which is forbidden and he has set his eyes on Mingshin as well. From thwarting assassins, complicated court drama, dealing with an evil ex and a potential new romance interest, and her own complicated heart that is healing, Mingshin has her work cut out for her. This was such a fun read!! If you've ever read any of the manhua/manwha or korean comics with revenge/second chance tropes, then this is absolutely for you (I'm obsessed with them so this was right up my ally). The book wraps up in a way that could lead to more books (WHICH I AM ABSOLUTELY BEGGING FOR) but if it ends on just this one, it was a fun ride. Seriously I loved Mingshen so much and Jieh is such a great love interest for her. The story was interesting and had me hooked from the start and the pacing was great. The plot kept moving and the twists and turns were interesting. I seriously do hope this book gets a sequel to see where the rest of the story goes and the potential growth of the characters, but otherwise I absolutely adored this one!! Definitely add it to your TBR!
