After the tragic events of a suicide taking place at a school, months later 8 students come to school on a snowy day only to find themselves trapped in the building and are the only people there, even stranger, time has stopped at the exact time when a former classmate jumped off the school roof to their deaths. The students are now all forced to try and remember what exactly happened but for some strange reason all photos and memories of the student who died has been erased from their minds. Now they must try and figure out the mystery before they are all killed off one by one. This was definitely an interesting read! I was intrigued by the mystery and can’t wait to see where the story ultimately goes.

A magical story about survival and finding yourself. Wynd is living a quiet life, working at a tavern and keeping a low profile, almost in hiding. Wynd has to keep his identity a secret because if he is found out he will be killed. But living his quiet life is getting harder and harder, as the king has sent out a hunter to find anyone with magical “differentness” and he is on the hunt for Wynd. Now Wynd must go on a dangerous journey in order to escape the hunter and embrace his magic. It’s a great fun adventure and the perfect start to a series. The artwork is great and the magic is fun!

In part 1 of the book Cici is trying to find out more about the mysterious man she spies on in the woods who is always covered in paint and carries various tins with him. In part 2 of the book she is hoping to help an old lady and her lost loved one. Filled with gorgeous artwork, super fun detailing like journal notes, scrapbook pieces, and doodles. This is a wonderful collection of adventures about a girl exploring and finding the magical in the mundane.

A treasure hunt, mysterious clues, and their lives are all at stake? Sounds like an adventure. Samantha Knox has shut herself out ever since her father died in the war and currently works at a book repair shop run by her childhood friends’ father. One day when she receives a mysterious book in the mail, she also finds out that the childhood friends she shut out are back in town, and she decides to bring the book to their father. But when arriving back to her store, she finds it set on fire and strangers asking her for the particular book she left behind. Samantha soon embarks on a treasure hunt with her childhood friends: Joanna “Jo” and Bennet Steeling. But reuniting with a friend she lost connection with and her childhood crush suddenly also brings tension with it, besides having to worry about being chased by people who want the book and having to decode the book, Sam is trying to figure out how to be back with the two people she cut off. So ensues a fun Indiana Jones-esque journey filled with mysterious myths, artificats, decoding cyphers, a diary that is in danger of falling into the hands of the wrong people, and mysterious abound. Sam and co find themselves traveling on train, to boat, to finally land in Ireland where they run into a mysterious group of known as the Brotherhood who are also after the curse. Along them are some Oxford classmates of Bennett’s, and two siblings who keep running into Sam.

This was a fun read and definitely had the adventure vibe I love. It gave me Indiana Jones/ The Mummy vibes and I am all for it. Sam is a girl who is still grieving and has shut herself out in order to not have to deal with everything but finds her quiet life upended by her desire to solve this journey. She’s always been in love with adventuring and decoding mysterious and when this mysterious book filled with codes appears, the fire is light again and she can’t keep away from it. She appears quite timid and shut but she’s got an adventurer’s heart. Jo was one of my favorite characters, I love a gal who knows her way around the world. She’s handy, great with picking locks, and adapting to every situation. Bennet was a sweet love interest, he is caring and a little overprotective, but he also has the same desire as Sam to solve the mystery and they just work well together. Super soft slow burn but it gets there in the end haha. Hoping for more of them in the next book!

This is the first adventure in a series and wraps up pretty neatly so I can’t wait to see what adventures Sam and co go on next!

In a world where your status is everything and ratings determine how well your life is, what happens when it all crumbles down? Think of that one episode of Black Mirror with Bryce Dallas Howard.... and throw in a school of thieves. Ella Karman makes a debut on the Social Stock Exchange and her entire life, she’s been hidden until then and completely raised to be the perfect way to boost her parent’s ratings. However, the more time she spends in society the more she realizes that her “friends” are not her friends and the love she craves from her parents will never be there. She finds solace in a cute Australian surfer dude named Adam... but even he isn’t who he seems to be. After a disastrous incident in which her friends betray her and her rankings completely tank, Ella is sent off and upon her return her parents force her to attend her birthday party on a ship.... which explodes and Ella is the only one to make it out alive. However, the entire time she has had an escape plan, and that is to go to the secret school known as Keystone where she will take up a new identity and train to become a thief. There she finds that she is an anomaly amongst the students and that one particular, very attractive boy, is her new rival, Garrett. Ella now has to adjust to her new identity and deal with the trauma of her past. she has done and witnessed unforgivable things, and is still reeling form the betrayal and hurt she faced. She hopes that with this new identity she can get a new start, yet when she is finally sent out on a mission...... Adam is there and apparently his real name is Nash. Now Ella finds herself stuck between her ex Adam/Nash and the mysterious yet irritating partner for her mission, Garrett. Filled with lies and deceptions and mysterious, Ella must now figure out who she can trust and where she will go next.

The overall story was okay, I found the premise of the story interesting. The story had a lot of potential and a lot of interesting aspects that could be further expanded on. I just found myself disliking everyone.... I don’t know why. My feelings about Ella fluctuated between liking her to questioning her. One moment she’s determined to go about with achieving her goals and getting herself together, and the next she’s going boy crazy over how hot Garrett is. Ma’am you are here to work on your new identity and your new life, did you not learn anything from before? Yes Ella is cautious and she’s paranoid (i do like that about her) but the entire book is her just be constantly faced with fresh betrayals and being like “ oh my gosh i’ve been betrayed once again” and I can’t help but feel bad for her while being like “saw this coming from a mile away” haha. Overall it’s an interesting book and I am interested in seeing where the sequel goes.

A super sweet love story about a girl who gets rejected and the boy who has been harboring a secret crush on her. After Maaya is rejected by her latest crush she vows to never confess her feelings again, and to her surprised the most popular guy in her grade Chigira overhears this and proposes that she have a one sided love for him. Throughout the story it follows them as they fall for each other (though it is very apparent that Chigira has a crush on Maaya). Just the sweetest and cutest manga ever I can’t wait to read volume 2!

A reformed highwayman and the aristocrat who threatens to steal his heart. Kit Webb has retired from the highwayman life and is currently running a coffeeshop. When a handsome aristocrat comes into his shop specifically asking for Kit and inquiring him to steal something for him, Kit finds himself intrigued. Percy “Lord Holland” wants to steal a little book that his deceased mother had kept on her that would enable him to blackmail his father and get revenge on his father for the horrible predicament he had placed not only Percy in but his best friend and her daughter in. Percy has never done anything related to heisting and is in desperate need of Kit’s help in order to pull off this mission. But the more time Percy and Kit spend together the more they find themselves becoming attached to the other, they just can’t take their eyes off each other and everyone at the coffee shop knows this. Kit use to be a famous highwayman but has settled into a quiet life after his partner died and Kit is injured. He refuses to do the job for Percy no matter how much Percy asks or tries to seduce him, rather he offers to teach Percy how to do it himself. Throw in complicated family pasts, old grudges, and shock revelations that threaten to tear them apart, and soon Kit and Percy will find themselves asking if they will be able to make it out of this together.

This was a fun historical romance and I did enjoy the element of heisting and training. Percy and Kit are an adorable couple, especially with Percy being a little bit mean but cute and Kit being the grouchy but soft one. They learn to trust each other and become vulnerable with one another. Despite issues of class, of the fact that Kit has a grudge against Percy’s father, and the fact they both are facing different circumstances, they really work as a couple. Overall a sweet and fun read!
