Words cannot express how much I loved this book. The romance was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed that the major conflict in the story wasn’t based off a miscommunication trope.
I also loved all the book/movie references. It made my inner geek happy to recognize certain references.
The sister relationship was so strong. It reminded me of another book I enjoyed, Meet Me In Paradise by Libby Hubscher.
If you’re wondering if this book is worth the hype. The answer—at least in my eyes— is YES.

This book made me hungry. When murder strikes at Lila’s family restaurant, she is quickly blamed for the crime. It’s up to her to try and piece together the clues before she goes to jail for something she didn’t do.
What I liked:
- The family relationship between the main character and her family
-Filipino representation
-the humor
What didn’t work for me:
-the over abundance of food descriptions ( I don’t mind food being described, but almost every chapter had 1-2 dishes being described in heavy detail)
-the mystery didn’t hook me. I didn’t feel like the pieces were falling into place.

This book was extremely creepy. Isolated horror always gets to me.
A group of five friends travel up to a cabin in the woods as a last hurrah before their lives change. While there, a massive snow storm traps them in the cabin. But running out of food and water is the least of their worries. Something is hunting them, and it’s only goal is to feed.
I loved that this book featured a Rake like monster. Those Creepypastas used to spook the pants off of me as a kid.
This book is brutal and well written. Not to mention that I loved the ending.
This book is included with kindle unlimited! So if you have a kindle, and are looking for a spooky, fast-paced book that’s less than 300 pages, check out The Shuddering.

This book certainly kept me entertained, and had some genuinely spooky moments. However, this book was not for me. I gave it 2 stars.
One thing that didn't work for me was the relationship between the main character and her boyfriend. He was super nice and tried to help provide for her, but she's very independent and would refuse most of the stuff he got her.
They would fight, and then make up. That's how 90% of the relationship went throughout the book.
I also facepalmed a lot over the denial of ghosts. While I understand Mara's reasoning for not believing in the supernatural, it became hard to believe she could deny the house being haunted. Especially when supernatural things would happen right in front of her, she'd freak out and try to leave the house, and then decide to stay anyway.
I did love the concept of an old serial killer House being super haunted, and loved some of the scares in the book.
Some moments were super tense!
I also loved the mixture of humor and horror. I like a good laugh to help recover from a bone-chilling spook.
