The MC is insufferable and I’m not intrigued enough by the mystery to make myself suffer through her narration. 

The extremely quirky MC was super annoying, I really tried to look past it but coupled with the love triangle 🙄 and the boring mystery, I just felt like I was wasting my time. 

I was really hoping to be as enamored with this one as I was with The Haunting of Hill House. Unfortunately, this was a flop. The vibes and atmospheric writing that made Hill House a fave, was completely nonexistent here. The short chapters plus the narration style made it all feel matter of fact. 7% in and I was already bored out of my mind. So, Hard DNF. Don’t think I’m ever coming around to picking this one back up again. 

Postponed for another time. 

Unfortunately, I’ve lost interest in this one. The first 35% really pulled me in but the pacing feels off right now. And anytime I pick it up I feel bored. Plus at one point completely forgot I was reading this one. So setting it down for now. Might revisit it again someday. 

Idk. The narrative style just isn’t pulling me in. Some things are super interesting but others are very confusing. And there’s such a disconnect with the characters. I just can’t find anything to get into. 

Stopping at chapter 16.

This books has been melodramatic and racist so far. It’s spent 110 pages setting up the characters and unfortunately all of them suck. And the science hasn’t been enough to keep my attention. Might come back to it, might not. We will see. 

I can already tell this one is gonna suck. Read a couple of reviews and that seems to be the general consensus. So not gonna waste my time with it. 

Picked this up for the Three of Clubs Club but I’m really not feeling it right now. So soft dnf for now.
