A sweet, lovely book. I bought it for the beautiful illustrations but was surprised by how much I loved the story by the end of it, though it was a bit slow to start. I loved the representation in it as well.

This book was beautiful and sucked me right in. I found the writing style to be unique and the first couple of pages I had to force myself to slow down a little to take it in properly, but I quickly got used to it. It was suspenseful and atmospheric -- it felt as though the book was pulsing and very much alive. I couldn't stop reading and read it all in one go the other night, and I haven't done that in a long time. Also I loved that the main characters were strong and complex women.

I did watch the movie last year and I loved that too -- both the film and the book were great in different ways.
