Didn't vibe with the characters - I'm not a fan of the ridiculously clumsy-cute trope.
I just really do not care for second chance romances, even if the first chance wasn't quite a romantic relationship. I can appreciate that the author was attempting to show us all of their relationship (through time jumps), as that is one of the reasons I'm not a fan. However, I didn't vibe with the characters enough to buy in.
Copaganda with too many of the off-putting aspects of fanfiction without enough of the good aspects to keep me going. Starting the book with one of the main characters as an alcoholic cop who killed a man "in the line of duty" did not endear me.
Got about half-way and lost interest. Maybe one day I'll pick it back up.
This book was one I would peruse at the library when I was there for hours on end studying, using it as a break between subjects. As the library is currently closed for browsing until further notice, I'm gonna shelve it for now.
After about 150 pages, Steingarten tipped over the edge into insufferable, after starting out as cautiously entertaining. I couldn't take more hyperbolic descriptions of food interspersed with casually offensive remarks about women or the name-dropping, though I should have expected the latter from a Vogue writer, I suppose.
