Interesting concept where the MC's abilities are not combat based so he needs to learn how to use them to survive anyway, but I'm not vibing with it.

Not interested in this style & genre at the moment - I might pick it up in the future, but given it's been on my TBR for years and I've only just tried it doesn't fill me with confidence.

Turns out I really just don't care for puppet storylines, idk.

While I am a sucker for literally every trope listed here, I can't get over how important the singing is and how nice the other ML is. 🥱

I had to close the kindle app in severe second-hand embarrassment when I got to Max accidentally texting the other MLs AGAIN. When you do that once (as he started out the book), it's more likely that you are fanatical about never making that mistake again. I can't do it.

Eh, didn't captivate me. I'm also not in a great headspace to share in one of the main character's religious trauma & abuse.

Definitely did not read this summary before downloading or I never would have started it - DDlb/lg relationships are very much not my cup of tea. There's a line between Daddy and Daddy and I'm staying on the opposite side.

I tried, because I think this author did a lot of good things with the complexity of abusive relationships, who you are after leaving them and dealing with the aftermath - kids, public scrutiny, toxic masculinity in the sports industry, etc. I just have such a hard time reading about cops as a main character - bad experiences, makes my skin crawl. I will definitely look for others by this author because I really enjoyed the writing outside of that.
