This man is an amazing author AND an amazing narrator. This book was so good, possibly my favorite Neil Gaiman book so far.

Every single character in this book sucks. They're all terrible people that I couldn't stand.
And the two main girls? Both are selfish, self-absorbed, arrogant and bitchy. They ruin every single life they touch and they don't even care. They're mean to everyone yet everyone continues to be their friend. One was murdered while the other is fawned over. No matter how much the MC hurts her friends, they won't let her go.
They pine after her like she's a fucking god and it's gross because she's abusive and cruel. She's no better than the "friend" she hates. They are all terrible people and none of them deserve a happy ending.
If all of them died or ended up destroyed at the end, it would have been a solid 3. But giving these terrible asshole characters a happy ending?? Nah, fam. This book annoyed me so much. There's not a single character I felt bad for. Not a single character I liked.
I could not care less what happened to any of them. They deserve it. But they don't deserve a happy ending.

I don't know what it is, but the Miss Marple books just don't really interest me. It's crazy because it's the same author as Poirot, whom I love, but I just don't feel the same about Marple.
Marple's stories are boring and I'm not fond of her as a character, either. I just find myself checking out while listening to them. This story was okay, I guess, but it was boring. Again, not fond of the characters and the ending was lackluster.

This is the kind of book I crave. Just two friends going on an adventure, leaning on each other and trusting each other to stay alive. No romance. No bullshit. Just a good old adventure between friends.
That's all I want with my fiction but it seems so rare. This story is a gem and I really enjoyed it. Their friendship and bond warms my heart and makes me feel so happy.

This was so much better than I expected it to be. I adore this family and the relationship they have with each other. They're so funny and the shenanigans they get up to wild. This is one of those books that gets better as it goes along. The second half was much funnier than the first.
I need more of their adventures.

This book was amazing. I love that the dragons can talk and I ADORE the bond between the main character and his dragon. It's so sweet and I found myself aww'ing more than a few times.
There are some who view them as nothing more than tools or weapons. There's no helping that when humans are involved. However, the main character and the close secondary characters view them as beloved companions, caring for them as if they are family members.
I don't know how this author thought of historical england and dragons together, but I'm so happy she did, it's such a unique premise.

I don't know how I feel about this book.
I don't like any of the characters. The plot was okay, I guess. The romance felt weird and forced. The sound effects in the background were repetitive, loud and very jarring. It made it hard to focus on what was being said.
I didn't hate the book but I didn't really like it, either. I was hooked at first but my attention and enthusiasm fell off harder than Idubbz after the H3H3 content cop.

If you would have told me that, after reading book one, I'd then get a cozy murder mystery where the detective is Cabal himself... I don't know if I would have believed you. I'd be happy you told me, though, because this was fantastic lol
This man is a total asshole. He's arrogant and self-serving, but he also recognizes that he's human. He makes mistakes and he owns up to them which makes him a way better character than if he refused to admit he has faults. He's such a complex and hilarious character. I am completely in love with this man. I would gladly give him my soul or die for him.
I'm dying to know why he's so obsessed with beating death, though. What is his reasoning? If I remember correctly, there's a female corpse at his home from book 1. Is it his beloved? His mother? Sister? I need to know.
I do enjoy the banter between him and Barrow, but I fear they will fall in love and romance will become a huge plot point in the future. For me, that would ruin the story and I'm not looking forward to it. Is it so much to hope for them to simply remain friends that may or may not despise each other? That would be such a good plot. The cynic in me says I won't get my way, though.
[They served to remind Cabal, should a reminder ever be necessary, why his social skills were so poor. People were loathsome and not worth the practice.]
This line is such a mood. Introverts unite.
