So, I got this book in a box set at Costco and, being a cat lover, I couldn't not buy this! Naturally, as it's meant for small children, this book was easy and a bit too tame for me, but for what it is meant to be, it's worth reading. It's very cute and as a cat owner, I can 100% agree with how hard it is to bathe cats lol
A very cute read and buying if you have little ones.
My favorite line from this book is from the quiz: "If you answered anything else, please reread chapter one 753 more times or until you are saying 'cats hate baths' out loud in your sleep. If you answered D, please go immediately to an eye doctor, because the animal in your home that you think is a cat is really a chicken."
Pure gold.

Let me start by saying that I watched this movie many moons ago and there's only two things that I remember - first was a captain in a pink tutu and second was that I loved the movie. So, I was pretty sure I was going to love the book, too and, would you look at that, I did! This book was so filled with magic and wonder. With every turn of the pages, I felt excitement for what was to come next.
Now, I could seriously do without the unicorn scene with the witch. That made my stomach turn because I can't handle violence against animals (even though I'm perfectly fine with the most twisted of slayings when it comes to people).
The next paragraph contains SPOILERS for the ending. Read at your own risk.
Although it was a beautiful story, with a beautiful ending all wrapped up nicely in a silver ribbon, I can't help feeling... hurt by the epilogue. It just sucks that she has to live forever even after Tristran has died. And they couldn't have kids so they didn't have an heir though I imagine it would be even more painful to watch her husband and child die. Still, thinking about her on the rooftop staring sadly up at the moon hurts my heart. And though she wasn't a major player, he didn't say what fate befell Tristans mother, though I imagine time took her, as well. Low key, I wanted Septimus to win the throne lol I was surprised when it was announced that Una was a Stormhold and, as such, so was Tristran.
Overall, such a good read, I'm so happy I picked this up and now I want to go watch the movie again!

This one was pretty educational for me. There were several things written about cats, and even tigers, that I didn't know. I laughed a few times at the lines, too, like this one:
"Often it is only the female lions that do the hunting while the male lions do most of the sleeping." "Hey! I like that idea! Yo, Jeannie! Go get me a sandwich at the deli while I take a nap!"
It's safe to say, Jeannie was not pleased lol The only thing I really have to complain about is the use of the word "Kitty". Like, I get it, kids book and all, but jesus. I'm gonna be seeing the word "Kitty" in my nightmares. Actually, I'm gonna count how many times it was said in this book! Drum roll, please~! 115 times! Wow. This is not including the word "cat" or "kitties" and it doesn't include anything past the appendix.
Why didn't he give the cat a name, I wonder? Or is Kitty her name? Weird, it's like a more annoying version of Pokemon lol Even the dog is just named Puppy. What age range are these books? I know they are for kids, let's see... ages 9 - 12? I'm not really sure how a child would respond to how many times "Kitty" is used, honestly, but as an adult, I can safely say it's kind of annoying haha But this series is cute and educational and, as a cat lover, worth owning!

There was a lot more to read in this volume as Uncle Murray talks a lot lol In this volume, it felt like a lot happened but it also felt like nothing happened at all!
I really loved the Strange Kitty cameo, he's easily my favorite character and I hope he appears more in the future.
Not my favorite one so far, maybe because it was kinda focused on uncle Murray, but I liked it and didn't expect the ending.

Not my favorite volume, mostly because I'm not fond of children, especially the younger ones lol I don't know if the following counts as a spoiler but just to be safe - POSSIBLE SPOILERS ahead!
At first, I was so confused by the story. The family had gone away for a week, which I don't think it takes that long to have a baby? I'm not sure, but it seems a bit long. Plus, the child is a young toddler, not a newborn! I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that it took until after the catlympics concluded before my mind considered adoption as a factor, which proved to be the case just a couple pages after my thought! It was a small thing but made me feel special haha
Hungry kitty is now my favorite because she kee0s bringing up tacos and I LOVE tacos. I also learned a new word - "caterwauling" which means to make a shrill howling noise like that of a cat!
Finally, at the back of the book, there's two pages about training your cat to follow commands. I know this to be possible because my cat, Mittens, may she rest in peace, was a very smart cat and I didn't even have to train her - she learned to sit on command on her own! I've always been so proud of her :')
Overall, not my favorite volume, but it wasn't a terrible read, either.
