This entire book is just good vibes. Well, aside from the murder, sabotage, attempted murder, fraud, poisoning, another attempted murder, being shot and another attempted murder... Other than that, it's all good vibes!

For real, though, I really enjoyed this book, much more than I expected to. The characters are lovely, the plot was interesting and the narrator did a great job. I wasn't even on the killer's TRAIL, I had no idea it was (Redacted)! I really liked 'em, too 😔

I found myself smiling throughout the book but I managed not to cry when (Redacted) was run over and hospitalized! I was worried the book would end with 'em dying and I was not prepared. Thankfully, that didn't happen! Happy endings and good vibes.

(I stopped at the general store for the pet carrier and wound up with $100 worth of kitten supplies. I wasn't sure quite how.)

Girl, if that ain't the truth! You go in to get one feckin' thing and end up buying the whole damn store. The lil babies deserve it! 

While on the subject - I've read a lot of cozy mysteries that "feature" a cat only for them to mention the cat once or twice and call it a day. Most of them I think just put a cat on the cover to pull in cat lovers like myself - and damn if it don't work. This book is different, though. Those tiny little balls of mischief are apart of the story, they're not just props.

I found myself smiling everytime they climbed her legs because my Grim did that when she was a kitten 😂 We are just trees to them, our legs be damned!

They're so cute and I would die for them.

"There must be something in the water. Dot gave her number to Jake at the bank yesterday. She's regretting it now because she's four years older  than him, but what's done is done." 

"The age difference didn't seem to bother my stitching crew. Some of them have new hips older than the sherrif."

Okay, first, I don't understand why she is so obsessed with a four year age gap??? Like, that's nothing. She acts like it's a 40 year age gap and it did get a bit annoying that she kept bringing it up.

Second, what the fuck Granny 😂 Who allowed this old woman to be this funny? I fucking love her and if anything happens to her, so help me... *Shakes fist at author* You protect her at all costs, ma'am!

(Granny showed off photos of the kittens as if they were her grandchildren.)

Whatchu mean 'as if they were her grandchildren'? They ARE her grandchildren! You know how old folks have those wallets with the plastic sleeve of like 30 photos of their grandkids? Me and Granny would have those filled with cats lmao

(He laughed at his joke, unaffected by the zigzagging chemistry he plowed through like a blind mule.)

I do not like this man and I do not like that he's back. She needs to stop messing around and let him go!

Overall, this book was awesome and I'm glad I got to listen to it before Audible removed it from the premium plan lol

One thing I didn't like was when she got shot. It was such an emotional scene that could have really tugged at our heartstrings and it started to... But then it skipped time and she was perfectly fine. It felt like a missed opportunity. Maybe she wanted to keep this book lighthearted? It just felt... Not cheap but, unfulfilling, I guess? 

Like, you can't just have her get shot, have the bestie crying and the love interest scared as she's taken away on a stretcher then the next page is just "oh yeah I'm fine I was in the hospital for a few days chilling with Granny, got some stitches and a cool scar."

It rubbed me the wrong way and felt like a missed opportunity.

At this point, do I even have to say it? Probably not but I will anyway lol I LOVED this book! ❤️

I'm sorry, the fuck did you just say, Mort?? I have no idea what 'jo-jeezly' is lol I've never heard such a thing before! This book features quite a few of such expressions, though.

Never been to Maine, so I have no idea if this is accurate. I trust Donald, though. I also didn't know they had to deal with heat like that, either. In my mind, it's pleasant there all year 'round lol

😲 Do people actually do this? Use the sun to make tea? This is very interesting and I would like to try this, buuuuttt our sun is so harsh I think it might shatter the pitcher lmao

I feel this in my soul, Mort. The heat is one thing, but the humidity just destroys you. Like, you step outside and start sweating bullets! It weighs on you, pressing you down and sapping your energy like a ghost draining a battery. It's so horrible.

(There would be no escaping - literally - the hard fact that this place, not too far from one of the most beautiful cities, was home to mothers, daughters, sisters, and granddaughters. Women. I felt a sudden sense of kinship because, after all, I was one of them.)

So, I've always seen people talk about the 'bond of sisterhood' and women often defend women like their lives depend on it. I have never and will never understand this concept. How can you automatically feel a bond with someone you don't even know JUST because they happened to be born female as well??

Most of the times I've been hurt or betrayed, it's always been a woman. Women, in my experience, are catty and two-faced by nature. They talk sweet to your face and promise to always be by your side but then they stab you in the back and act like they never even knew you.

I'm not saying all women are bad, but you can't say there's not a huge chunk of women that are trash. So tell me, how am I supposed to be part of the 'sisterhood' and immediately feel a bond with a stranger just because they're female? Why should I trust them based solely on that premise? Why should I go out of my way to help them just because they're female, even if they don't deserve my help?

It makes no sense to me and I don't understand why women protect each other like they owe them their life. It's usually shitty women being protected, too...

😂 I don't know why this line got me the way it did but I laughed too long at this. This reporter is such a good character with a lovely personality, I love him.

(The last time I'd ordered peanut butter and jelly, the waitress in the Boston luncheonette told me it was only offered on the children's menu. Since I wasn't a child, I couldn't have one.)

This is the dumbest shit I ever heard. First, a PB&J is not exclusive to children, my mom eats em all the damn time. Second, who is she to tell a paying customer what they can and can't eat?? Who cares if it's on the kids menu? It ain't like that shit is free, she's still gonna pay for it.

Am the only one that feels excited by this idea? Imagine a spin-off book where Jess is just a member of Scotland Yard! Maybe it's a dream book or something. That would be so fucking fun and interesting! 

(I felt giddy. Did I look foolish? Childish? No matter. Times in our lives when we get to feel like children again are too precious to let pass.)

This is another thing I don't get. As a child, everyone wants to grow up and we often get told that we need to grow up. When we're finally older, we're still told to grow up and stop acting like a child. Why is being childish such a bad thing?

Why is having fun and trying to recover some of that fun from our youth frowned upon? Life is fucking hard and stressful and painful. What's the harm in being a little childish if it helps bring joy to a world that trys so hard to push you down? 

It's like people judge you based on how 'childish' they deem your hobbies or actions to be. It's so fucking dumb.

(I'd thought about calling Mort or Seth back home to discuss the incident, but didn't want to worry them. In the past, when I'd called from a distant city to report an attempt on my life, or some other imbroglio in which I'd become embroiled, they'd responded by jumping on a plane and racing to my side.)

I LIVE FOR THIS SHIT. There is very little in this world that can make me happier than a strong friendship like this! This is what I need more of, men and women being close FRIENDS who love each other without being IN LOVE with each other!

Books seem to forget that men and women can be friends without catching feelings. There's a reason they used to be kept apart, because people thought men and women couldn't be just friends, which is total bullshit. It's so hard to find books where men and women are close without catching feelings for each other. I hate it so much 😮‍💨 romance ain't everything, ya know.

Listen, I have been in the anime community since I was a small child and discovered adult swim had a forum. I've also been in the kpop community for many years. And I've also watched many police body cam videos of suspects tweaking.

They are literally the same 😂 The only difference between this is one takes drugs which alters their behavior and one doesn't take drugs proving that they are literally just insane.

Hope can make or break a person. I've seen hope keep someone from sinking beneath the depths. But I've also seen hope destroy someone, keeping them from trying to swim on their own because they're too busy hoping to find a life preserver. 

Hope is a powerful, dangerous thing.

"Of course, I'd be pleased if Angela Lansbury played me in a film version of my book."

Oh, Jess 🤭 

Angela made this character, honestly. She did such a fantastic job playing this character. She BECAME Jessica Fletcher. She embodied the spirit and soul of the character.

I believe in rebirth after death and I hope she was reborn into a wonderful life without too much hardship. May she rest in peace 🕊️ Thank you, Angela, for giving me and so many others a character we can love and look up to for generations to come.

God, this book was fantastic, I didn't want to put it down!

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. It's just so well written, the main character feels real and human, and the murders are interesting. It's so hard for me to find female main characters that don't get on my last nerve so maybe that's why I like it so much haha

(His emotional range seemed to go from nervously depressed to shyly miserable.)

I didn't grab the quote from the book but when they were looking up (Redacted) online, his profile listed that he's a brony...

I don't know what's worse, hearing the term brony in a cozy mystery or the fact that this man proudly admits to being one... 😶

I knew where the plot was going and who would be accused, it was kinda obvious, but I had no idea who was guilty. Rita is annoying as shit and she perfectly represents the rabid fans of today, though she's like twice the age of the normal rabid fans lol Except those old lady fans from Korea, I can't remember what they're called.

It was a really great book, I enjoyed it c:

I know nothing about this series. I did start to play the first remastered game but, for some reason, I was obsessed with the platinum. Because of that, I didn't make it far (I missed a trophy) and I wasn't paying attention to the game itself. I do plan to go back eventually and truly enjoy the game.

So, this book shows the before, how Rapture came to be. It's roots, if you will. It was an interesting listen and I'll be taking this knowledge with me into the game. I think it will make the experience better, knowing the history.

It was well written and interesting, but something held me back from giving it four stars. I'm not a professional so I can't name what that thing is. It's more of a feeling. Like it feels wrong to give it 4 stars but it also feels wrong to give it 3 stars. It sits nicely on the line between the two.

It's been a long time since I watched Sleeping Beauty and I can't really remember it, so I won't compare this retelling to it.

This book was well written, but I'm not sure how I feel about the plot. I don't really like any of the characters. The plot was interesting but it lacked... Oomph, I guess? It could have been more exciting, I think. It's definitely a cool twist to the story but it just didn't hit for me.

Maybe because I like Maleficent? I didn't like how she was written here lol

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. It had an interesting plot, it was well written and the characters were interesting, as well. I'm not really fond of how it ended because it was a bit lackluster, in my opinion, but it was a pretty good listen overall.
