A must-read for everyone! I had no idea about this; I had no idea that Ireland is such a horrible place and has not changed over centuries. That up until recently people were still sent to Magdalena laundries. Sometimes the topic of toxic religion is too much for me as an atheist and I‘m again horrified what people did in the name of it. I will never understand it. Humans can truly be the worst.
This book brought me to tears and it’s so emotional and heart-breaking. I also urge you to read the authors note afterwards! This book is based on fact. Horrible disgusting facts about abusive religious people. Just be aware of that.
Trigger warning: rape, abuse, taking children away from underage mothers, inhuman working conditions, death because of neglect, toxic religion, hate towards lgbtq people,...

This might as well be my new favorite book of all time! You see I don’t ever laugh at books it has never happened before! And this book made me laugh so hard I nearly caused an accident. I love this British humor!
I went back and forth listening to the audiobook on commutes and reading the e book every time I could. The narrator is the best narrator I ever listened to! He as Crowley even sounded so so much like David Tennant it was baffling! Or is it the other way around?

At first it took me some time to get used to the comic style but it got better towards the end and now I really need volume 2!!
Also my favorite trope enemies to lovers is in it, no worries that’s not a spoiler it’s literally foreshadowed on the first page

Oh my god I can’t tell you how much I wish the world would be like this alternate reality. The Americans didn’t vote for a disgusting sexist chauvinist racist asshole, but instead there is a female president with a diverse family! A Britain where the royal family isn’t so backwards and stiff. Brexit seems to still be happening which is a bummer but ya can’t have everything I suppose
Wow it really took me 3 months of picking up and putting down again to finish this.
And I have to say, this story would have benefited from less „allomancy“ aka magic system related descriptions in my opinion because by the end we know what everything does. I feel like it is painstakingly explained until the very end making me feel like I read 1200 pages instead of 600+.
The first 70% of this book really dragged on for me, but then the last 30% kept me so hooked and interested despite the excruciating metal explaining and detail that I’m totally unsure about my rating of the whole book.
Then again...Towards the last quarter of the book the story really picked up and got so gripping! I loved the reveals and the ending but I’m not 100% sure I’m interested in the premise of book two to be honest.
I do want to know all the background and all the reveals about Vin and the Darkness and everything but these books are real bricks and I’m not sure I want to know it that badly
