Having watched the show I could see this story unfold before my eyes so vividly! My favorite perspectives were Tyrion, Arya and Jon.
I hate reading about hateful violent religious people and I didn’t feel like the resolve made any sense whatsoever. And I don’t like the writing style. It just felt like it could have been just sentences. The poem writing style didn’t make it any better.
***Unpopular Opinion***
THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE by Neil Gaiman
Published: June 2016
Genre: Horror/Fantasy
Age-range: Adult
Pages: 237
Themes: disgusting horror scenarios, ghostly fantasy world, some apparent great meaning in everything that I don't get :D
Setting: Sussex, England, UK
RATING
Main character: 2
Side characters: 5
Writing: 1
Plot: 2
Enjoyment: 1
Atmosphere: 7
Intrigue: 2
Total: 2,85 --- 1,5 stars
Notes: I didn't like or care for the main character at all not even as a child. The only interesting part were the side characters (three generation of women/neighbors) but their meaning/significance is never explained whatsoever at least not in a way that gave me some added value. I absolutely hated the writing style and the plot was boring. My enjoyment is low because I don't like reading about gross stuff. The atmosphere was the only objectively good thing though I don't like to be creeped out :D
Read: January 19th 2019
Initial Reaction: This was definitely not for me. Seeing the interpretations of ocean being the great womb of this and that and dear god that’s why I hated literature class. I can see some of my favorite magical realism stories relating to grief as brilliantly portrayed and written. But this was half disgusting horror half nonsense to me. I don’t understand it and probably never will ^^

I LOVE this writing style just like the last book I read and will read all of her new releases for sure.
This time I was just a bit frustrated by the character of Emma and her decisions. I found myself wanting to read about Rev whenever there was a chapter from her perspective.
But I loved to read more about and from the perspective of Rev it was really fascinating and I interesting. Also to hear a little bit more about Declan’s life and see him be a great best friend.

Between 2,5 and 3! Def. lower 3.
Hmmmmmm I just don’t get it... why Simon is like that..?
Honestly it doesn’t feel like Baz should be staying with him all the time I mean that’s worse that a bad relationship they don’t even talk they just ignore each other?
Or rather Baz is afraid of doing the wrong thing around Simon? Sounds like a toxic relationship to me. I don’t get it at all.
I mean it’s just a pretty mediocre roadtrip story with no romance whatsoever...? I didn’t love Carry On for it’s incredible story I loved it for the characters and romance but I didn’t care for any of them in this one :(
