I'm happy I requested this book because I discovered this amazing series.
I read it in one setting and couldn't put it down.
This book reminded me of those of the Golden Age as the setting, the construction of the plot and characters seem to be out of a Agatha Christie novel but the book is full of original and brilliant ideas.
The plot is engaging and entertaining, there's never a moment of bore. The twists and turns in the plot kept me guessing till the end and the ending came as a surprise.
I loved the cast of characters and I liked the well researched historical setting.
Even if this is part of a series can be read as a standalone.
I look forward to reading the next installment.

A good start for a new series!
It's an engaging and entertaining book of a new series full of potential.
I loved the cast of characters, quirky and likable, and the setting.
The plot was engaging, it kept me reading till the last page.
The mystery was ok, no plot hole, I liked the twist and turns and it wasn't easy to guess the culprit.
I look forward to further installment in this series.

I loved the cast of characters, both humans and pets, the setting and the plot.
The story is well written, the romance is entertaining and it keep you hooked till the last page.
This the perfect book when you want something to escape from everyday life.

I'm usually into Golden Age mysteries but something in the blurb attracted my attention and I was happy when I got this book.
It's amazing: an engaging, thrilling and entertaining read that keeps you hooked till the last page.
I loved the well devised plot that never bores and I liked its originality as the heroine was not the usual kick-ass wonder woman but one with a human side and normal concern.
The cast of characters is well written and they are fleshed out and interesting.
I will surely look for other books by this author.

This book is amazing and was a really pleasant reading experience.
It's entertaining, fun to read and you're hooked till the last page.
The start is wonderful, so full of humour and so tongue in cheek, it made me love this book since the first pages.
I appreciated the female characters, so strong willed and anti conformist, and I love the evolution of Amelia Rose, the train of thought that made her understand what she really wanted.
I think I could have a new book boyfriend in Niall, another Highlander that could be defined the king of men.
The entire cast of characters is well written and fleshed out, you cannot help rooting for the brothers and the young couple in love.
I loved the romance as much as I liked the family, friendship and growing-up themes.
I look forward to reading the next installment in this series and will surely read other books by Ms Enoch.

I love historical mysteries set in the 20s, love mysteries set in a country house.
Unfortunately this was not my cup of tea, I found it slow paced and sometimes confusing.
I think there's potential but I didn't liked this book very much.
