Well written and with an engaging plot. I liked the descriptions of Tuscany and how well the food was described.
I found it less stereotypical than a lot of book set in Italy.

I love Ms Lorac books and I think this the best I read so far.
It's full of twists, turns, red herrings and keeps you guessing till the end.
I was happy to meet again Chief Inspector MacDonald and follow him while he solves the mystery.
It's a very intriguing and enthralling plot, I read it in two setting and couldn't let it down.
The historical setting is very interesting as it pictures London during the Blitz and gives a lively and realistic picture of what should have been living under the bombs.
I hope to read other books by this author soon.
Highly recommended!

A very good and enthralling book that keeps you hooked till the last page.
I loved everything in this book: the characters, Tess and her tarantula above all, the engaging plot and the world building.
The plot was great and never bores you, a wonderful reading experience.
There's an echo of other great book but this could become one of those books.

This was a fascinating read that helped to discover a lot of forget or less known mystery writer.
I read this is classic in its genre and even if it was written long ago it's still an engaging and interesting read.
I liked the style of writing and how it discusses the mystery writer and their characters.

A good urban fantasy, entertaining and engaging.
It's a bit slow at times but it keeps you hooked. The plot is full of twists and turns and the characters are relatable and interesting.
Even if it's the 3rd in a series it can be read as a standalone as there's plenty of details and background information.
I'm curious about the other installment in this series and will surely read them.

It's the second installment I read in this series and I loved this one as much as the previous one.
I was hooked since the first pages and it was a roller coaster of emotions.
Ms Novak can surely write a book that you can't put down and write memorable characters.

I had some problems with this book as it was the second installment in a series and I didn't read the first one.
I liked the characters, the well researched historical background, and the setting.
The book is sometimes slow and it seems to drag.

What a good book! It's enthralling and entertaining, once you start you cannot put it down.
I read a lot of very good review of this book and was curious.
Once I started I was hooked and I can say that Ms Spain is a master storyteller.
The cast of characters was fascinating, they're well written and fleshed out. They're not likable and each of them has secrets that will be revealed during the book.
I liked the couple of detectives, they were the most likable characters.
The inhabitants of the community sometimes seemed to be seen in a satirical way, each with their quirk and secrets.
The end was totally unexpected and it made me gasp and laugh at the same time.
I think there's a lot of humour and I liked it.
A very good book, I look forward to reading other books by Ms Spain.
Highly recommended.
