A well crafted and engrossing Golden Age Mystery, I found it enjoyable and it kept me hooked till the end.
I loved the description of the Garda Lake and I liked the solid mystery that kept me guessing.
The cast of characters is fleshed out and interesting and I like the Shakespeare quotes and the discussion.

I'm usually more on the "cosy mystery" side so this novel was really out of my comfort zone but the blurb attracted me.
It was a great choice as once I started I couldn't put it down.
I think that Kelly is a great character, well developed and interesting. The entire cast of characters is well written and I liked them with their flaws and issues.
The plot is gripping and engrossing and it kept me guessing.
As I'm a practicing neo pagan I appreciated the descriptions of the neo pagan people and rites that are correct and well researched.
It's the first book I read in this series but I had no issues with the characters and the plot.
I look forward to reading other books in this series.

An interesting and engrossing book, more speculative fiction than fantasy, that will give you a lot of food for thought.
I appreciated the style of writing, it's apparently simple but it's multilayered and make you stop and reflect on what you just read.
The plot flows and never bores, the cast of characters is fleshed out, the world building is unusual and interesting.
It's the first book I read by Heather Child and won't surely be the last.
