Dark, grim, depressing at time, well plotted and fascinating. I don't know if I loved or hated this book, I just know it's an interesting reading experience and the author delivers a riveting story.

I loved other books by Edmund White and was excited to read this one.
The premise sounded really interesting and, even if I liked the storytelling, I couldn't care for the characters that I found a bit too self-centered.

I loved this story and I loved it because it's a family story with sci-fi elements. It's a family story that analyzes how a family can be torn by the disappearance of a member and how each of those remaining will react.
Kass, Jacob, and Evie are the siblings at the center of the story. Kass and Evie are still suffering from the aftermath of Jacob's disappearance, Jacobs is somewhere in the Universe fighting an intergalactic war till something happens and he comes home (to the Earth).
Nothing will be the same, a lot will happen and may the old wound will be healed or the Earth will be destroyed.
I wasn't a fan of Kass or Evie at the beginning of the book: they seemed a bit obsessive and lost in their world, Jacob seemed easier to like till you realize he left his family behind without even say goodbye.
There's a lot of character development and the arc of each character will improve and change them.
I liked the mix of the two genres and I found it well done. The plot is fast paced and I was engrossed in this riveting and entertaining story.

I had a lot of fun in reading this book about the dogs of the main philosopher and their impact on the history of philosophy.
They barked a lot and affected their humans. It's a good introduction to philosophy and loved the humour

A slow burning, complex mystery. It's the 11th in this series but it can be read as a stand alone.
I didn't read the other books but I was able to throughly appreciate this one that kept me reading.
I appreciated the complex plot and the lfeshed out characters.
The solution was a surprise and I think that each reader will have a different opinion.

Even it its' not my favorite in this series, it's a gripping and entertaining story that kept me hooked.
There's a change of scenery, European organized crime gangs, and a lot of action.
The author deliver a story that kept you on the edge, interesting characters, and a solid plot.

I'm not sure if I love or hated this book: it's multilayered and complex as Berlin. A story that talks about the life of different people living in Friederichstrasse 19, in Berlin.
Complex, fascinating and well written. I wouldn't define it entertaining but it surely reflect the atmosphere of this fascinating city.

I didn't read the first book in this series but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Dido is fleshed out characters and the I liked the plot and the vivid historical background.
The name of the horse made me laugh and I'm wondering why a horse was named "pig" (that's the translation of Porcellus from latin).
A good read and I think it can be appreciated by younger and older reader.
