It’s not easy to define this novel as it mixes different genre making them work together and creating a riveting story that kept me turning pages.
There’s mystery, romance, fantasy all mixed in gothic atmosphere. There’s also an interesting side about sisterly bond and how being poor can affect the chances of getting better or dying.
The “young ill girl” is trope that was quite popular in the XIX century story, Beth anyone?, but the author was able to add fresh air and approach it in a contemporary way.
The magic system is one of the most original I read in a long time: a mix of religion and magic, art that affect the living being healing or resurrecting them. Those who can perform this type of magic are called Prodigy and someone is killing them.
Prodigy are also considered an abomination by religion and persecuted
Myra, a Prodigy called to a nearly impossible task, must find the killer before she becomes the next victim.
The plot was well crafted and, even it dragged a bit at moments, I read it in two setting and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The mystery is quite solid and the romance, even if a bit too fast, was sweet.
I suppose this is the start of a new series and I would be happy to read more about this world.

The novels in this series are the embodiment of how imagine a cozy mystery featuring the Royal Family and the late Queen Elizabeth.
Another entertaining, compelling and engrossing mystery that kept me turning pages and guessing.
It's a bitter sweet read due as Queen Elizabeth passed in September but it's also a picture of woman who became a pop icon even if she was always as removed from pop as one can be
Highly recommended.

Thibauld is my favorite sci-fi cat (there's more than one) and a cat was what made me want to read this book.
Thibauld did an excellent job as this is an excellent sci-fi story: fast paced, action packed, and complex.
A story of worlds, underdogs and things that should not be there. There's a lot of humour and the storytelling is excellent.
Can't wait to read other books featuring Thibauld or written by this author.
Highly recommended.

The Metal Heart was a brilliant novel, this one is complex and thought provoking. A well plotted historical fiction that i liked and found disturbing at time.
Vivid historical background, great characters.

It's not a perfect story and the characters can be irritating as they seemed spoiled child at time but it's a realistic story and I loved the cat.
I had fun and enjoyed it.

I fell in love with the Birdverse when I read The Four Profound Weaves as this complex, inclusive, and fascinating universe kept in thrall and made me sad when I closed the book.
The Unbalancing is even better and I was happy to travel again to the Birdverse and meet the characters. There's a lot of inclusivity and the characters are realistic, fleshed out and interesting.
There's nothing forced, there's no sense of things-done-because-I-had-check-a-list, everything flows and i was sad again at the end of this book.
I had a bad case of book hangover but I'm happy I read it.
Highly recommended.

Before starting this review I was think i'm I don't usually write a summary because it's not easy to summarise this book as there's a lot of could-be, may-be, possibilities and multiple futures.
It's set in a future planet Earth where humanity was able to solve the main issues, climate crisis included, and someone discovered a sort device which can predict the future
The device was invented in a possible by future by Hayes Figueiredo, a film make in the main reality.
This is the start of a story which is also a love story, a sort of Sliding Doors and a struggle to save the one who could be the love of your life.
I loved this story, loved the world building, rooted for Hayes e Yusuf.
There's a lot of world building and the author is a good storyteller.
Highly recommended.

Anthony Berkeley wrote books that challenges your mind and, as far as I can see, seem to challenge our contemporary moral codes.
I enjoyed Jumping Jenny, it's refreshingly cynical at times, but you are left wondering who is the villain and who is the victim.
It's a good study of relationship in a weird family and a group of people. Roger Sheringham acts as externa. observer and as sleuth.
We know who-did-it but the character in the books ignore it and the game will be how they solve the mystery
I wasn't very comfortable with some descriptions and I think that the characters in this book are almost all flawed and often quite irritating.
It's hard to tell the victims from the abusers and I don't share the opinion that Berkley was misogynistic as the opinions of the characters are those of the age when the book was written and some of them are quite modern as a divorced woman was often biased.
An intriguing story and a book that is also thought provoking.
