I never read anything by Louis Bayard and this book made me discover a new to me author that I loved.
This is a complex book, intriguing and atmospheric, full of references to Poe and darkeness.
There's plenty of twist and it kept me hooked till the end.
The author is a talented storyteller and the plot is brilliant.
Highly recommended.

I was fascinated by this book as it's an excellent novel and the language could date it back to XIX century.
It's dark, well plotted, full of twists, and gripping.
An excellent story that kept me hooked.
Highly recommended.

This is the second thriller I read featuring Rebecca Connolly and I enjoyed even if it's not a favourite.
The start is exciting, the mix of politics and crime works but I found it less gripping than the previous.
Rebecca is a clever and well developed character, the setting is intriguing.

As far as I remember this the first book featuring 00-X agents I read and i had a lot of fun.
I'm not able to compare to Fleming's books and I think this enabled me to read and judge this book according to its merit.
It's an entertaining, fast paced, and action packed story. The characters are well developed and I liked them.
I think that the inclusivity is a sign of the times more than any woke-or-whatever sign.

We are used to think about women in Middle Age as weak or idealised but there were some very strong women who played in the political field like the queens in this book.
They lived in complex age when things where changing, they were part of political agreements but they were also able to play important political roles.
Alison Weir did an excellent job in telling the life of these women and this is an informative book that always kept my attention alive.
Highly recommended.

This is a book that I loved and dislked at the same time.
I loved the concept of an occult book, the descriptions of the world of book and rarities. i disliked Lily that I found flat.
It starts in a very strong way and my expectations were high, it became a bit boring as it was a sort of we-go-there-do-that and let's have sex.
The author can write and I liked the style of writing in the first part.
This is my personal vision and I think it could change if I re-read it.

I fell in love with the colourful cover and then i fell in love with the plot, a compelling and gripping plot that kept me hooked till the last page.
The author is a talented storyteller and is able to make you visualise what you are reading and enjoying it.
Love it and can't wait to read the next book in this series.

An interesting true crime book about a killer i never heard of. There's a lot of questions, there's a killer who could have murdered more women, and a botched investigation.
It was an interesting read.
