When you start a Joyce Carol Oates book you never what it's going to happen as she's a master storyteller but she's also a writer who deliver stories that makes sense only if you perservere.
This was an excellent story, a literary novel with a thriller taster. I hated the characters, hated the plot, loved the plot and found it riveting and grippig.
If you want a standard serial-killer-suburrb-etc story this is not the right one. If you want to try an excellent literary novel read it.
Highly recommended.

I wanted to read something funny and compelling, this was the right story.
The characters are entertaining, i liked the banter, and had fun.
It drags a bit at times but I enjoyed it.

I think this is a Marmite book that most will love or hate, some will think it's a mixed bag.
I belong to the "mixed bag" group: I love Ruth Ware's books but this one my less favorite.
I liked the descriptions of Oxford and the last 15% of the book.
I wasn't a fan of Hannah, April or any other character. Hannah seemed a bit too spineless and repetitive, Aprile was a unbearable spoiled brat.
The plot is slow burning and some less pages would have made it more compact and exciting. There's a lot of repetition that seems to be there to recap what we already knew.
The last part is fast paced and exciting, the solution surprised me and I liked it.
3.5* upped to 4

I fell in love with this series when I read the first instalment and was never disappointed. I love Josie and Rodney, love the magic of books, and the people who live in the quaint town.
This is a good mystery even if it's a bit slow at the beginning. I liked how the author described the relationship and loved to read about Josie evolution.
The mystery is solid and the solution surprised me.
I can't wait to read the next story and hope there won't be another femme fatale :)

This book was full of promises since I saw the cover and I can say that all my expectations were met.
Strong, fleshed out and relatable characters. A hot romance based on differences and attraction.
A story that is inclusive, compelling, entertaining and made me root for the characters.
I loved the storytelling and the style of writing.
Highly recommended.

A slow burn mystery that kept me reading because I liked the plot and the vivid descriptions of the setting.
I wasn't a fan of the MC that I found a bit bland but i appreciated the dynamics of the small town.
I liked it but it's not my cup of tea.

I have a love/meh relationship with Alexis Hall stories but this one is in the LOVE sector. It's a gripping page turner that made me laugh but also think.
There's a lot of humour, laugh out loud moments, but there's also some very serious issue and I like how the author deals with them.
A well plotted and well told story that I strongly recommend.
