It was an interesting book as it's a true crime but the author did a good job in describing the historical setting and the how famous writers talked about it.
It's not a book for faint of heart as it can be a bit too gruesome.
It was an interesting and gripping read.

Another informative and compelling history book by Pen&Sword. It made me learn something new and I appreciated the style of writing and the style of writing.

I had a lot of fun in reading this book and loved Tanz. There's a lot of humour, friendship, ghosts.
It was an entertaining and compelling read that kept me hooked. It's a good mix of chick lit/paranormal/mystery and I can't wait to read the next story.
One note: if you want a classic cozy mystery there's some strong language and sex.
Highly recommended.

This is a great book by a new to me author. This is the first book I read by this excellent author and won't surely be the last as I love it.
In an age obsessed by youth this is a book about old women, women who lived and experienced sufference/loved/pleasure/loss/betrayal.
This is not a book that makes you "feel so and so". This is the retelling of experiences and how age can shape memories and feeling.
I loved it, felt for this women and loved them.
Highly recommended.

I don't usually read romances featuring cow boy but there was something in this one that appealed to me and I was happy I read it.
It's an enemy to lover story featuring a strong heroine and a hero who need to understand what women can do.
i had fun, rooted for the characters, and enjoyed the story.

Another gritty and gripping police procedural and a good addition to this series.
It's quite dark, twisty, and well plotted. Roman and Rita are two fleshed out and well developed characters.
I liked how the author dealt with topics like human trafficking.

A book featuring witches and a talking cat is right up my alley. A dystopia that made me laugh and think because, even if the author did an excellent job in keeping the mood light, there's some very serious topics in the world building.
I loved it as it made me laugh and think, kept me hooked and turning pages.
The author did an excellent job in developing the characters: Eleanor and Stan are both memorable even if Stan is the guy you like to hate or the a quite realistic depiction of how a human turned cat could be.
Highly recommended.

I love GM Malliet and was very curious about this new series as I love her style of writing, humour, and characters.
This is a mystery but it's also a satire of the world of mystery writer. It's very funny reading Augusta's musing about the life of a bestseller writer and how her creative process works.
The mystery is well plot even if a bit slow at times. This is the first in a series so there's the introduction of the character and of the setting.
Even if I prefer her books set in UK this was compelling and highly entertaining and I can't wait to read the next.

I loved this book since i read the sampler and was immerse in the atmosphere of Amsterdam at the beginning of the XVIII century.
A rich town at the end of a Golden Age in the cultural and economical fields but still full of wealth.
Nella, Thea and the characters made me discover new sides to this town and age and I appreciated how the historical background is well researched.
Jessie Burton is a talented storyteller and delivers well developed characters and plot.
It was great to travel to Amsterdam and meet these great characters.
Even if it features the characters of The Miniaturist it can be read as a stand alone.
Highly recommended.
