I'm a huge fan of Tamara Berry and had high expectations for this new series. I can say I enjoyed it and there's plenty of potential
Tess is an interesting character even if sometimes she's a bit of I-know-it-all. Her banter with the sheriff is funny as the characters in the village.
The mystery is solid and kept me guessing.
I can't wait to read the next story.

I enjoyed this book even if some more action in the middle part would have helped.
I liked the strong female character, the world building, and the storytelling.
It starts and end with a bang, it drags a bit in the middle.
I liked the style of writing and can't wait to read the next novel.

When I reviewed Death Comes to Bishops Well I wrote that it was a series full of promises, this book is up to the potential of this entertaining series.
It's a cozy mystery but it's also a family saga as family, relationships and secrets are at the center of the plot.
Maggie and Sam's relationship is growing and I hope they will be able to bring it to the next step.
There's a cold case, an old story related to one of the aristocratic family, and there's a lot of secrets related to Maggie's family and her sister Andrea, who's back after disappearing long ago.
It's a complex plot full of twists and surprises. I wasn't able to guess the twists and appreciated the solution.
The author did a good job in developing the characters and keeping the tension high, especially when it comes to Andrea.
I read it in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Highly recommended.

I loved the Jane Austern Society, a riveting and compelling book, and I loved Bloomsbury Girls which is another brilliant piece of historical fiction.
There's a lot to love in this book: the strong willed and clever women, their friendship, the mix of fictional and historical characters, the realistic depiction of women position after WWII
Even if it deals with issues like misoginy the tone is always light and pleasant.
It was a great read, one of the best of 2022 so far.
Highly recommended.

I thought it was one of those light stories about a socially awkward characters who learn to live.
I was wrong as it's a poignant, emotionally charged, and compelling story that moved me to tears and made root for Lucy as I read about her changing.
It's well written and well told, you learn about Lucy's story and what made her become a recluse.
I smiled and sniffed, loved the fleshed out characters, and turned pages fast.
An engrossing and compelling novel.
Highly recommended.

It was the end of a paranormal series and I quite liked it even if I was expecting something more as the last part seemed a bit rushed.
I had fun as it's a fast paced and action packed book. i liked the end and liked the characters.

I loved the characters in this book, Iona above all, and like how this book deals with the force of friendship and how it can help in everyday life.
A cast of characters that are brought together by an accident while they commute. Different life that are apparently happy and successful even if there's more behind the facade.
I love the style of writing: dry, witty, and able to make you feel for the characters.
Ms Pooley is a talented storyteller and their characters are well developed and relatable.
A life affirming and poignant story.

This is the first book I read by this author and it was a great discovery as this book kept me on the edge till the end.
It's one of those book I started just-to-check-how-it-is and left happy and sleep deprived as I read till late in the night.
The plot is tense and well developed, excellent storyteller, great characters.

An excellent whodunit featuring two orphaned pre-teen living in a village for children nobody want.
It was a gripping and well plotted story, heartbreaking at moment.
The author is a good storyteller, the mystery is solid, and i loved the strong relationship between the MCs.
A good story, can't wait to read another book by this author.
