A mix of fantasy, comedy of manners that I thoroughly enjoyed. There's food for thought even if it's an entertaining book.
Good storytelling and character development, a well crafted plot.

This series has the potential for becoming a very interesting one.
This book was entertaining but some less details would have helped.
I liked Greer, the mystery is solid and kept me guessing.

This book is disturbing and gripping at the same time. I kept me on the edge and had to read it with the light on but I couldn't put it down.
The author did an excellent job in developing characters and the creepy atmosphere. Excellent storytelling that makes this book a page turner.

There was a time in my life when I read plenty of book featuring vampires but I never read anything of
Black Dagger Brotherhood Series even if it was one of the most important series.
That said it was a page turner that kept me hooked, rooting for the characters, and turning pages as fast as I could.
There's a lot of other books in this series and I'm sure I will read all of them as I loved this one.
Highly recommended.

3,5* upped to 4
This book has the potential of being a page turner, a sort of mix of GAD whodunit and a literary novel but it didn't always worked for me.
I wasn't a fan of the characters and the mystery part was a bit too slow.
That said I loved the historical background and the description of the settings.

This is the start of a new historical mystery series and I was attracted by the name of the author, Jessica Ellicott, as I love other series she writes.
I expected something a bit lighter but I enjoyed it as the historical background is vivid, the characters fleshed out and interesting, the solid mystery kept me guessing.
Can't wait to read the next story.
Highly recommended.

I knew Kim Stanley Robinson as a sci-fi writer but I appreciated this work that is a mix of experiences, travelogue, and science information.
He did a good job in explaining and illustrating placed and was a good narrator.
I'd like to visit the places and this could be a good guide.
Highly recommended.
