Not the best book by this author but a poignant family drama that kept me reading and root for the characters.
The characters are interesting, the plot flow, and I loved the setting.
Recommended.

This is not a fast paced, action-packed book about some Roman legionary but a very clever, well researched and compelling story about a clever man in a new world facing superstition and nastiness who will find strange allies, discover the unknown, and face very strong enemies.
It’s epic and it prepares the scene for the action and exciting things that will come.
Simon Turney can surely write historical fiction, and this was an excellent story that kept me hooked an turning pages. It wasn’t love at first pages, but the story grew on me as I got to know the different characters and travel with them
Titus Cervanius is a fascinating character, a man of his time and very modern at the same time. He’s well developed and interesting, I look forward to reading more about him.
The historical background is well researched and vivid, I learned something new and travelled with the characters in the ancient Egypt.
I can’t wait to read the next story as I want to know what will happen.
This one is strongly recommended.

Beth O'Leary is back and deliver another riveting and compelling story, well written and gripping.
The three different women and their stories are fascinating and I was surprised by the twists.
I didn't know if I hated, despised or simply wanted to slap Joseph Carter, he's an interesting characters and an important part of this surprising plot.
Highly recommended.

I fell in love with the cover and like this love letter to food that tells the story of a cookery book, of women and their reality in the XIX century.
Even if it's a bit slow at times I was fascinated by the story and the well developed characters

There's a lot of potential in this book but it's like you are starting an excellent dish and the - PUF - it disappear.
I felt there were plenty of ideas that were underdeveloped and my attention waned after a bit.
Not my cup of tea.

I was a huge fan of Cormac Reilly mysteries and had high expectations for this new book by Dervla McTiernan.
I found it a bit disappointing as it starts with a bang and the last part is a bit unbelievable.
I think i would have loved it if this was a debut but after the series I found it a bit too disappointing.
Not my cup of tea.

This was an excellent series and this is the epic conclusion that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Fast paced, full of action, entertaining and gripping.
I was sad to say goodbye to Ana and Ransom and loved this book.
Look forward to the next series by this author.

I read other books in this series and was very happy to read this new installment.
It was a lot of fun, a romp that kept me turning pages. I assume it may be a bit hard to get into this world if you didn't read the rest of the series but it's such a funny story that I strongly recommend it.
Lots of humour, likeable characters, excellent world building.
