Another gripping and entertaining story in this series. It's a bit slow at the beginning but totally gripping.
I loved how the author dealt with a crime as children sexual abuse in a sensitive way and with no graphic scene.
The plot is well developed, full of twists and turns. I love DI Barton as he's a well rounded and relatable character.
Highly recommended.

I love to visit places following books and authors and this was the perfect guide to London. There's a long list of authors, both classics and contemporary.
I loved to lose myself in the places and learning something new, designing new travels in the future.
Riveting, well researched and informative.
Highly recommended.

I head a lot about Georgia O'Keefe, saw some of her pictures but I didn't know a lot about her.
This was an excellent way to learn about this painter and excellent introduction to her life and works.
I assume it should be for children but it worked very well for me.
Highly recommended.

It's a fun read, a modernization of what could have been recipes during the Regency era.
It was a lot of fun to read and I will surely try some of the recipes.

Artemisia Gentileschi is a sort of "feminist icon" in Italy since Anna Banti wrote about her life in a book that is considered a masterpiece of XX century.
She was a great painter but somehow she's more known for the rape and the trial.
This well researched and comprehensive book help to discover more about Artemisia and her works.
It's not an easy read but it was very interesting.
Highly recommended.

Loving or not loving a book depends a lot on your mood and your current expectations.
Some of the reasons that stopped me from giving a 5* rate to the first book in this series are the same that made me love it and I suppose I will reread the first book.
It's a slow burning book, don't expect that the mystery starts soon in the book because there a general recap of the characters backstory, catching up what's going on and introducing what will be the mystery part.
That said I found it very relaxing and the descriptions are so detailed that you cannot help visualizing the scene in your mind.
Isabel is a great characters, wise and clever. I love her philosophy of life and her relationship with other people.
The author did a good job in delivering a compelling and highly entertaining story. The solid mystery is full of surprises even if I guessed one of the twists.
Good storytelling and character development.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Highly recommended.

This was the first book I read in this series and it won't be the last as I thoroughly enjoyed.
A mix of historical mystery and historical fiction told in a dual timeline with an interesting cast of characters and a well researched and vivid historical background.
The author is a good storyteller and the story kept me hooked and guessing.
Even if it's the 5th book in this series it can be read as a stand alone.
