This is not a heartwarming and entertaining book but it's an excellent book that talks about how our future could be and how we are affecting the world around us.
It reminded me of the books set during the Great Depression: Coral, Foxglove, Summer and the other characters live in a very degraded environment but they are full of zest for life and love.
The world as we know collapsed and changed. Plastic became a commodity and a lot of places are under water.
The story is told switching between past and present, different POVs and it kept me enthralled. I was scared because I know this isn't a dystopia set in a distant future, this could be our world in 50 years.
The author is a talented storyteller and did an excellent job with character and plot development.
There's plenty of food for thought and this is an excellent speculative fiction, it's bleak but there's also hope.
A good way to look at the possible future and hope that it will be only fiction.
Highly recommended.

I discovered this series last year and fell in love with it as it's brilliant, a crash course what was India in the 20s, how people lived, and the political tension of that age.
The mix of historical facts and characters with the fictional parts always works creating one of the best historical mystery series.
Sam and Suren are two great characters, I like how they interact, how Sam came to accept Suren as a peer and how Suren grew as a character.
The mystery is complex, there's plenty of twists and we visit different places and type of people. The solution surprised me and I found it satisfying.
The author is a talented storyteller and this gripping and riveting book kept me on the edge till the end.
Even if it can be read as a standalone it's better to read the rest of the series to better understand the character's evolution.
Highly recommended.

3,5* rounded to 4
As I'm a huge fan of Nancy Mitford I'm always attracted by this series even if I know that the books are a hit/miss.
Becca is a fascinating characters and I was looking forward to reading about her. That said the story involves her but she's not at the center of the scene.
This is a cozy series and i liked the mystery and love Louisa, a well rounded characters.
The historical part is a bit light but it was interesting to read another POV.
The mystery is solid and kept me guessing.

I found the mystery fascinating but what i really loved was the historical part and the memories of an era.
I hope I will be able to tell story as well as the author when I'm her age as she's a fascinating storyteller and the details and the story she tells are always interesting.
The mystery part is a bit light but the book was enjoyable and compelling.

I'm a fan of Philippa Ashley and always enjoy her story. This one was engrossing and entertaining, with the right festive spirit and a lot going on.
I was happy to catch up with some characters from previous novels and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the plot.
Good character and plot development, lovely setting.
Highly recommended.

It's the first book I read by this author and it's not easy to express how much I loved this book.
It's dark, twisty, gritty and riveting. A page turner that takes on a historical trip down the memory, visiting long lost places and atmosphere that seems to be out of a 40s noir movie.
Great storytelling and plotting, excellent character development, a plot that keeps hooked and turning pages.
Great story and great thriller.
Highly recommended.

Exham-on-Sea Murder Mysteries is one of my favorite series when I want to travel to Somerset, visit lovely places and read about mouthwatering food.
I had a lot of fun in reading this compelling and entertaining cosy mystery as it's full of twists, red herrings and possible suspects.
It's always a pleasure to catch with Libby, Max and the people of Exham. They're well written and likeable characters.
I always fell in love with the descriptions of Somerset, one of my favorite place in the world, and I learned something new about it's history.
The mystery kept me guessing and the solution came as a surprise.
Even if it's the 8th in a series it can be read as a standalone because there are references to back cases but they aren't relevant to the solution of the mystery.
A good story that I strongly recommend.

Angela Marson has a knack for writing complex, gripping and entertaining thriller that keep you on the edge. I still have to read one of her story that failed to keep my attention.
This is the last one and one of the more complex and adrenaline fuelled.
There's suspence, there're some heartbreaking moments, and there's a lot of emotions.
Kim Stone is at her grumpy best and we read about her weaker side as she risks of being hurt in a terrible way.
The plot flows, fast paced and full of twists. I wasn't able to guess any twists or the solution.
An excellent story that I strongly recommend.

I'm a fan of the Blitz Detective series since I read the first book. It's a great historical mystery series and the Blitz is one of the main elements as it's pervading everything that happens and is always present as a part of the investigation.
This story is one of the best in this series and there's a new setting and new type of people.
The plot mixes historical facts with fiction and it's always informative and I learned a lot about what was really happening.
The mystery is solid, full of twists, and the solution came as a surprise.
John Jago and Craddock are an interesting and well developed couple, I like their approach to investigation and how they are developed.
I can't wait to read the next story.
Highly recommended.
