I didn't hate this book. In fact, I enjoyed the writing style and the way werewolves are portrayed here very much. I even liked the intermittent poetry throughout, and how I could subtly relate Rilke to what was happening with Sam and grace.
But the book just didn't have a plot. The entire novel felt like a prologue. Not much happened, and I just couldn't fall in love with the main characters as much as I usually do in these kinds of books.

This book was good. Really good. Which is why I still cannot understand why I felt so unenthused about it, regardless of what amazing things were taking place. For some reason, the abrupt shift from realistic fiction into fantasy really confused me, and I had this feeling of disbelief during the entire section in which I had a very short amount of time to wrap my head around the genre change.
Additionally, I am at a loss as to how I was supposed to tell whether or not an event was happening, and I found this to be excruciatingly frustrating. I just don't think this was my kind of book....
