DID NOT FINISH

Plot was developing SO slowly and it wasn't delving deeply into the characters, so it really wasn't holding my attention. I found myself skimming a lot, and that is a sign that it just wasn't worth finishing for me. It's disappointing because I read The Time Machine right before this, and I enjoyed that one a lot! If you haven't read The Time Machine, I recommend checking that out instead.

The writing style is unbearable. I read a couple pages, it was just so... unpleasant. Didn't enjoy reading it at all. I was already thinking about DNFing it, but I read some reviews and saw that the second half was better, so I tried skipping the first half (it was so boring), and skimmed through some of the the second half. It IS more interesting, but still not the type of thing I want to read. Won't say it's a bad book, it just didn't click with me. The cover is nice though.

I wanted to like this, and I tried so hard to force myself to finish it, but I just couldn't. I hate to call a book boring and leave it at that, but that's all I can really say about this book. It's just plain boring. It was super hard for me to stay engaged with the story.
