There were a lot of good things about this book. I enjoyed the fact that the book was set up almost like an advent calendar, but I didn't enjoy the fact that there weren't really any "new" or "unique" ideas. I did like the fact that all of the ideas, both Christian & not, are all put together in one place. I think I'd get more out of the book, if I didn't work in retail & be bombarded with the worst of humanity all month long.
Better than Texas.
The characters seem a little better written in this one, but the inconsistencies still drive me crazy, like calling Whip an "old" man when he's only about ten years older then the first book, when he's in his early 20's. He's young enough to have a second child, but yet he's constantly described as feeble and old - yet he can still do miraculous things!

Though I am calling this a reread, I don't think I actually finished it the first time I read it.
I love Heinlein, his books may blow your mind. Some of his ideas are definitely a little out there, but he does make you think, which is a good thing.
The story itself almost reminds me of a Simpsons episode - you start off thinking it's about one thing, and by the end it's totally different.
Part of my 2015 reading challenge was to try to read more of Heinleins' books

Another reread, and another book as part of my 2015 reading challenge (I'm trying to read and finish more of Heinlein's books, one of my favorite authors)
Not my favorite one I've read by Heinlein, it's about Maureen Long, and you definitely need to read some of the other books by Heinlein before tackling this one, if you want to "get" the whole story

BAD.
I mean, the writing was OK - nothing really bad, nothing really good, the main premise of the book was OK - girl meets boy, boy meets girl, girl marries boy, boy wants to marry another girl while still being married to the same girl .... but the religious stuff is way unrealistic and yes, I know that's exactly the point of the point, but it leaves a dry taste in my mouth (horrible pregnancy gone wrong but saved by prayer is a very good example of this one).
I just didn't like the characters, couldn't get into the characters, thought the whole romance seemed way too quick / forced, didn't even really believe there was any romance between them.

Very dry. The book is presented as a series of interviews, which made t very hard to get into the book.
I believe I've read this three times so far, and every time I get something out of it.
I read it once, I listened to it as an audiobook once, and just reread it again.
I definitely got more out of it after reading some of Heinlein's other books, as the story line - and characters - are just so intertwined with each other - past, present, and future.

I thought I had read this one when it was first published, but after reading the book, I only vaguely remembered the beginning, so I think I never actually read it.
A story about brothers, a subject I know nothing about (having no siblings), it's an interesting, twist and turn story. It's not the type of book I normally read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same.
