TW: misogyny, sexism, patriarchal society, homophobia,
Was very excited for a sapphic, feminist, romance! Not a retelling in the traditional sense, which I found refreshing, however not enough world development happened and the bad folk (which there were A LOT of) were almost too humerously evil. The messages were SO good and important, do not get me wrong. I'd still reccomend it, I just personally didn't really enjoy this one.

CW: death, murder, grief, loss of child, child abuse, racism, colonisation, trauma and intergenerational trauma, the stolen generation
This book has opened my ears on how amazing storytelling is, and how colonised it has become. Being told in the style of first nations Australians, weaved with murder and mystery and heartbreak.

CW: ableist pushing from society, incel character, abusive relationships
Re-read again even though I only just read it last year. It's one of my favourite books ever. Such brilliant coded rep for my autistic, asexual soul.

CW: mentions of European colonisation
The life and evolution of new Zealand, from its geography, biodiversity and beyond. Kiwi and moa often being the focus of other books, this one goes deeper into other life and dispersals.

CW: death, misogyny, religious control
What if you needed to lie to tell the truth? A brilliant fictional take on the Fox sisters. Moral ambiguity and creepy spiritual visitations mixed with activism in history... absolutely excellent.

CW: ableism, starvation, animal death, abusive relationship, possibly uncomfortable age difference in romance (16 and 19)
"I'd rather be different and understand what's going on."
A futuristic dystopian Australia with a Deaf protagonist who is just learning Auslan and finding where she belongs, through her art, gardening, and the power of sign language.

TW: mention of JKR, discription of depression, and anxiety attacks
A book I really could have used as a child (& great tips I still took away today) ! Lots of tools and strategies to combat stress, doubt and anxiety. Perfect for kids 9+.

TW: death, blood, cannibalism in fairytale, homophobia and attempted conversion therapy from religious leader/teachers
Gorgeous art and colouring. My gosh. Brilliant fairytales that translate to, and intertwine, with multi-generational characters. I loved all their relationships.

CW: death, grief, traumatic injury, complicated mother-child relationship, internalised ableism, transphobia, misgendering, global warming
I found the naritive a bit disjointed, but overall a startling review on little traumas that add up, little joys that knit together, and the complications of decoding them all.

TW: death, miscarriage, grief, loss, bullying, mentions of suicide ideation.
I thought one, possibly two of my feels might be affected by this book. Nope. It took every inch of my heart and drop-kicked it continuously and without mercy. It solidly wrecked me and I loved it.
