TW: death, meat consumption, prejudice, bullying
I love that Itagaki's style gets to be as rough and loose as it is in her first exploration into the Beastars universe. Metaphors are messy as heck, but still utterly enjoyable.

TW: racism, imposed white beauty standards
Beautifully illustrated, exquisitely written and on a theme I'm happy is getting talked about more and more. Us white folk need to listen and educate ourselves how we and the beauty standards we impose are racist actions, and we must be better (and stop fetishishing/touching others hair)!

TW: death, outdated depictions of Māori people.
Absolutly stunning art and mostly (as of 2023) accurate current findings of the life of these fantastic birds. Casual and outdated racism about Māori people at the end left me disappointed.

TW: death, images of dead birds
An accessible and fun introduction to the commonly overlooked sparrow. With negitive stigma against these birds, we miss their beauty and personality. Read if you want to appreciate everyday beauty.

TW: death, murder
This gem of a book is a refreshing middle-grade mystery that's both creative and hilarious. Ridiculous is the best descriptor, and I mean that in the very best, most complementary way.
If you love the humour style of A Series of Unfortunate Events, but crave a mystery that's well wrapped up and not a boring cookie cutter affair, this is your next fix. And while it is a middle-grade book, I implore you adults to not rob yourself of this excellent read.

TW: fingernail biting
This horror series took me right back to the days I shivered while reading "A Dark Dark Room" by Alvin Schwarz. Perfectly terrifying for young readers, but always including some silly ideas too.

Some were wonderful and others I seemed to have missed the plot of them? There were a couple that just ran through a series of events without much structure. But honestly the good ones were worth it.

TW: mentions of violance, parental abandonment
