TW: outdated terms, physical abuse, religion/cult control/indoctrination, bullying, child abuse and neglect that will be distressing
OOF! Wow that's a heavy read of a little book! Def check the TW for this one. A dark book that handled some really dark and scary topics in a good way.

TW: blood, (human) experimentation, decapitation, parental abandonment
On my TBR for ages and I kept putting it off... but finally gave it a go-and so glad I did. Very nastalgic, feel-good action/adventure with heartwarming relationships (also, incredibly funny)!

TW: racism, abuse, slavery, Death, mentions of and attempted rape, blood, fade to black sex
Sometimes you've got to step away from booktok so you find gems like this. Absolutly beautiful. The audiobook was excellent and took the text to the next level. Queer Black pirates, ahoy!

This book is utterly brilliant. Easy to read, hilarious and just creepy enough to tingle the toes of the youngest (and oldest!) readers. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

TW: racism, abuse, rape, misogyny and misogynior, intergenerational trauma, transphobia, ableism, colonialism
The first bit was really hard for me to follow, but WOW was I glad I kept going! The rest was a continuous FIRECRACKER of an important and brilliant read on the problems faced and rooted in the history of STEM. Absolutely steller.

TW: death, murder, body horror, insect-related body horror, transphobia, deadnaming, cult programming
So exquisitely creepy, with just the right amount of body horror. You're constantly second-guessing the reality of supernatural elements, and the cult-like elements perfected the creepy trifecta.

TW: homophobia, death, dementia, medical neglect, racism, antisemitism, medical experimentation on Black people, suicide
An important and well researched glimpse into an important part of LGBTQIAP+ history of how art was used to push for action. The fight is still not over, and knowing its roots gives us power.

TW: transphobia, enbyphobia, ableism, misgendering
This was so deliciously complicated and I love books that normalises yes sympathetically untangles, how absolutly all-over one's situation can be.

A true middle grade masterpiece. Easy to digest and Melissa's trans experience is so beautifully told. I cried-which I assure I don't do often.

TW: divorce, fighting parents
This could have easily been half the size it was. Some parts dragged so long, while important explenation and explorations got one-off lines. Such as the one mention of trans people was "people born in wrong bodies" and nothing mentioned of gender. Not great for a book about kids learning new things-or educating the reading audience. I honestly can't remember (though I honestly could have missed it) of 'gay' being explained till the last third of the book.
The main plot, of reconnecting with family, has so little communicating with said family. The heart and message are so good, but the execution of was sadly lacking.
