I did not like this at all. The characters are detestable, the story itself twists around on itself in very jarring ways. It has a concept that has so much potential. But for me, it didn't hit the mark.

A brilliantly written, beautiful and moving book. A powerful read, I feel devasted after reading this. To me, this is a modern classic that everyone should read at some point in their life.

This is the first time for me I have read a book with this structure: short paragraphs and chapters, interview-style. I have always loved horses and I enjoyed getting an insight into the world of training and tending to horses as a career. A quick read with lots of depth.

This book could be a perfect movie adaptation in my opinion. I would love to really visualise all the towns and cities in Europe that are mentioned in the book during this time, Paris especially. I love the mention of all the other big-time authors of the time sprinkled throughout. It made the story feel like a literary avengers in a way. The ending is heartbreaking. I wasn't prepared for it to be so gut-wrenching.

My rating is higher than I really want to put because while I don't particularly like what I read, I have to appreciate how the author managed to write this. This story is nuts! My face was constantly in a contorted and cringed position while reading. Once you thought the story couldn't get any weirder or worse, it does! Be prepared for an absolute rollercoaster with this, go in with a very open mind and brace yourself for what the author will throw at you. Behind all the craziness are actually some important themes that frame the story.

To be frank, it took me around 80 pages before I started to enjoy this book. I felt through most of it, every sentence was just containing words. I couldn't make sense of a lot of the story even though it was beautifully written. I was just letting myself absorb what I was reading. The world building is crazy in this book - I could really visualise all the landscapes, cities and places that Red and Blue were navigating around. I would have loved more explanation about the time travel but the concept of weaving the strands was such a lovely way to describe it and visually very vivid. I went from not understanding anything to rooting so hard for Red and Blue to succeed. I could feel the intensity building within the chase between them. Overall, a super fun, adventurous and romantic read, I want someone in my own reality to write letters to me as extravagant and eloquent as those of Red and Blue!
