When I finished the last sentence of the book, I couldn't decide.... did I *love* this book or absolutely *hate* this book? I ruminated on that question for enough days that I decided that I must indeed love the book.
This book is nothing of what it seems. A true love story? Yes. But it isn't made of the stuff of most love stories. It even pushes you to redefine love in some ways.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What makes those years full?

Writing more beautiful than the cover. A magical story that you dive into and never want to end.
This is not my typical read. I'm not much into fantasy or magic. But this book kept me spellbound. The writing in and of itself is captivating. And the idea of Doors enthralled me.

Once again, Backman proves to be a magician with words. This book, clearly and expressly written about IDIOTS, is charming and witty and compellingly thought provoking. At a time when we are all struggling a little, he shows us that not only is hardship a part of the fabric of life so also is the innate goodness of humanity.
Is there good to be found in those that cooperated with the oppressors? And why would one cooperate? This book poses interesting questions, but the main character and overall storyline fall short of its potential.
