This book was very relatable, as I am also a Lonely Lesbian Virgin who spends all day in their house. This book really did a good job discussing struggles with mental healthy, eating disorders, people’s expectation, and dealing with loneliness. It was really good read and the drawings were really well done.

This slayed. I loved the poems and incorporating photos into the book. I loved all the photos, especially the ones that had the poems in the photos instead of being in text next to it. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because as much as I loved the photos, the poetry was not necessarily my favorite. It was still good and I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t the best ever. 

This book definitely starts slow. I really didn’t truly into it until about ⅔ of the way in. August irritated me a lot in the beginning. she got better as time went on, but it took me a while to warm up to her. I still don’t think this book was necessary ground breaking or anything but I did start to like it. I was more invested in the side characters than I was with either of the main characters. I liked Jane but I thought the other characters were much more compelling.

This book was amazing. It is inspiring to read about her overcoming all the obstacles life throws at her for the sake of her child. It also talks a lot about the assumptions and stereotypes of people living in poverty and on government assistance and how wrong those assumptions are. I loved reading this. It was heartbreaking and inspiring all at once.

I mean I don’t know what else I expected from a book written by a man. The story was not very compelling. It was frustrating and honestly gross to read about. Any time that Ray was the narrator, his thoughts were unnecessarily sexual. I know that it was the point of the book, but he ONLY thought about sex with Mirabelle. He literally said that a cure for her depressive episode could be a good fuck. He was double her age and really did nothing but upset her. 

My least favorite part of the book is at the end when Ray literally said that he was a parent to Mirabelle because he took care of her. They were no longer together and he thought about her frequently and that was the only reasoning he had for still thinking about her. It was the worst possible line I could’ve read.

This was an interesting read. It’s not really for me but I thought it was fun to see how fashion has changed over time. 

I would kill myself if I had to wear a hat all the time.

All the characters in this book were very likeable. I think the fmc’s relationship with the mmc’s kids was adorable and really nice to read about. The mmc was obsessed with the fmc which always gets me. It’s honestly my favorite trope and the only way I can truly enjoy a straight romance. He supported her through all her issues and all her choices. I hope they live happily ever after.

The cover is atrocious but that is something you just have to accept with the genre.

I love a silly little romance. I liked how the mmc continuously encouraged the fmc to be herself and not to depend on him to help her fit in and that she was special in her own way. It was also fun to read about a nerdy couple where both sides are nerds and it isn’t just one half. I loved all the representation of LGBT+ in the side characters. Overall, this book is a great read and I recommend it.

I’m not really a big mystery fan but this plot was super interesting. The writing was really well done. I loved how it went through many different POVs so you can try to piece together what happened as the story is revealed rather than just depending on one narrator. One of my favorite things is reading about or watching rich people being ridiculous and this fit that perfectly. It’s almost like if Saltburn was actually good.

I did not like the main character. Throughout the book, there were many times I found myself rooting for her and starting to like her but then she would make a decision or a side comment that would make me lose all the progress I made. Her thoughts made it seem like she thought she was better than the other women in the book because she was school and career driven rather than caring about looks. This was especially irritating since she chose to start a business dependent on women who like to take care of themselves and care about appearances. This happened when she was talking about her mother or her more girly daughter rather than her nerdy daughter. She also frequently took things as a personally attack which got frustrating. For example, one time Ash (love interest) asked if she got to his house okay and in her head she said that she has Google Maps and a brain so of course she did. It was just small comments like this throughout the book that got frustrating and annoying. 

I was not really rooting for the main couple. They really had no interactions and half the time, the main character seemed to dislike everything about Ash that wasn’t his appearance. It kind of felt like it was just thrown in at the end when they really could’ve just been friends.

I thought the main story of a mother abandoned by her husband to raise two girls alone while also pursuing her dreams was inspiring. The main character did have some character growth, but overall I felt like she was frustrating to read about.
