This is an amazingly awesome fantastic book.
It is similar to Rainbow Rowell's other fantastically cute book Eleanor&Park and you should definitely read both of them or all of them ya both. both is good.
The story follows a college freshman, Cath, who writes fan fiction about a book series that is quite similar to Harry Potter but is not in fact Harry Potter. Cath is majoring in english and writes gay smut in her free time. She has a twin sister who also shares her love of the Harry Potter doppleganger, Simon Snow. Cath and her sister Wren, (not even kidding those are their actual names and I love it so very much) have family problems and boy problems and general life problems. It is such a cute and amazing story that is a love story but it is so much more than a love story. It's so realistic feeling it physically pains me because I love it so much. Cath is geeky, awkward, and kind and shows that even the geeky fangirls can get the guy!
One of the really neat aspects of this book was the references to geekery including but not limited to-Harry Potter, Twilight, and Lord of the Rings!
Another awesome literary thing in this book is the breaks in between chapters. Before each chapter is an excerpt from either Cath's Simon/Baz fanfic, Carry on, Simon, or an excerpt from the imagined book series of Simon Snow! Which was extremely exciting and cool! Truthfully I hope that the alleged seven Simon Snow books are actually created along with fan fiction because I know I would love it and I would most definitely thoroughly enjoy it!
The story, plot, and characters were really fab and exciting! The only thing I wished could have been included was an epilogue tying up all the loose ends explaining where people went and if Cath ever completed things and such. The ending was really cute and #deep but I still wish there was an epilogue or maybe a sequel with them in Sophomore year of college and how Simon Snow lives on even after the last book because there is still a two part movie to be made amirite *wink wink*
ANYWays GO READ THIS BOOK ITS FABULOUS AND CUTE AND GEEKY
and I sincerely hope Simon Snow books and/or fan fiction and/or movies are made in the near future
