I really didn't like this one as much as the first three in the series. I don't know whether or not my impression of the book was effected by my stress from the school work and musical that my show is putting on or not but I really just didn't like this one. It felt wrong and was sad throughout pretty much the entire thing.
I had high expectations for this book going into it because for years I had been hearing how great it was but when reading it was not in the mindset to enjoy this book because I had to give it back soon and wanted to read something else but by the end of the book I thoroughly enjoyed.
This book is quite depressing. The story follows a boy who loves this girl, Hannah Baker, who has recently committed suicide. Instead of a note she left tape cassettes adressed to 13 people who caused her suicide. I think the use of the media of audiotapes is really cool because you can listen to them as you read but even if you don't you can hear her voice as you read it and I thought that was very interesting.
A quick read. Very fast paced.

This was a really good book and made me fall in love with the characters all over again. I didn't like the 4th book and disliked pretty much everything that happened but in this book so many happy things happened including the finding and saving of Dimitri followed by a painful absence of Romitri until they fell in love all over again and Dimitri became his usual badass self. Lissa and Christian finally got back together after 450 something pages and the AdrianxRose relationship was fabulous. I would like to state that my state going into the book was heartbroken but still shipping Romitri like FedEx but by the end of the book I ship AdrianxRose and think Dimitri needs to redeem himself(this will probably change yet again by the end of the next book). This book was exciting from start to finish with so much action that there was two climaxes which resulted in an amazing 5th installment to the Vampire Academy books.(i still really wish they had a better name and better covers). Im super excited what crazy new adventures Rose and crew get into in the next and last book. It will be a sad parting from the series (but thank gods for subseries')!
I really liked this book. It took a while to get into ti but then it became really interesting. I like the strange cultural and physical differences between the L'eihr's and the humans and the lack of a belly button on an alien was hilarious. I wished that Aelyx had a last name of some sort and that there was a name for the L'eihr species because I'm not positive but I don't remember that being named. The alien strangeness was really interesting and kept me captivated. i think it is really interesting that the author write this using NaNoWriMo because I didn't think published successful books ever came out of that and I think that is really inspiring and cool. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.
Things that I didn't really like in this book was how it felt like a teenager was talking to me which makes sense because the main character is a teenager, but speaking as a teenager I felt that the language was dumbed down. There were many references to American culture and human culture in general which was obviously to really drive home the point of Cara being the stereotypical American but it was very difficult to read in the beginning until you get used to it and if the reference is not understood then the joke is lost. The ending of the book also felt a bit rushed because 8 bajillion things happened in like 2 pages and it seemed sorta all shoved in their when it could have been put in the next book. Instead it seemed to be more of an attempt at a happy ending wrap up with a cliff hanger thrown in there. The title is quite clever and I love it.
I really hated the cover of this book. I understand this has nothing to do with the author usually and I am just stating this as something to rather boost marketing because thats what the cover's there for isn't it. The front is fine and is appealing to the demographic of teenage girls who like romance since that is obviously portrayed on the cover but i also feels it give off a bit of an R&J vibe with the separation and differences between them. Now I would like to explain how i know that the cover is obviously photoshopped and airbrushed and such to make it aesthetically pleasing but the back is a horrendous job that I an amateur could blatantly see and do better at even with my amateur photo-editing skills. If you direct your eyes to the back of the cover you will see to quotes from esteemed writers which I thought was quite empty compared to the usual cover but I am not complaining of the lack of self promotion trust me. Now the first thing I noticed was how someone tried to edit it so that it was out of focus up front and then got clearer farther away but then I realized that someone had simply airbrushed a blur over it pretty poorly in selective places which is not how a photo would ever turn out convincingly in the first place. Secondly, if you would look to the two "world" theres the L'eihr planet landscape on the top and the "earth" on the bottom. Now if you look at the L'eihr you can clearly see a hand an arm and part of a leg. They literally copy and pasted the front, which isn't the problem I'm totally fine with that if they had actually tried, onto the back and then photoshop brushed over the model of Aelyx really poorly. You didn't even try. I hope this didn't come off as too snarky because that is not what I was going for (but it sorta turned into a rant-sorry) but I hope this book gets a new and or simply improved cover to reflect its fantastic story.
This book is really good and has interesting characters, with character development, and sexual tension so palpable you can hold it in your hand. I can't wait for the sequel that comes out on my birthday next year! So go get this book right now-and enjoy!
