Perfect for fans of BEFOEE THE COFFEE GETS COLD. I find these types of stories a bit overwritten and gets formulaic

4.5/5

An inventive short story collection of “haunting”, from the paranormal to paranoid, GHOSTROOTS delivers stories with compelling writing that blends character and plot.

A strong NBA contender!

My favorites
-manifest: asks the question if evil can be passed down through a complex mother daughter relationship. Are we just manifesting what’s predetermined?
-contributions: a short yet wild story that describes a community of women who contribute money to a mutual fund. But what happens when someone comes up short?
-hollow: speaks of the violence people can pretend not to see, but the houses always witness it
-masquerade season: what are we willing to give for an idea lifestyle?

3.25/5 gifted by the publisher

Whimsical observations of cats that reads more like an essay collection than a novel. Each chapter is short, spanning 2-4 pages, of a cat’s peculiar behavior and the owner’s wildly imaginative interpretation.

I’d put INVISIBLE KITTIES under the category of “cozy cat books” that has a more lyrical writing and inventive structure, reflecting the author’s experience in writing poetry.

The observations of cats are tinged with metaphors and can be quite fun to read, especially as a pet owner to ponder. But since there’s not much plot going on, and the writing is solely focused on cat behaviors, I have a feeling I won’t remember much about this book in a week

4.5/5

I love this elegant, rhythmic, and wide-ranging poetry collection that explores Palestinian history, diaspora, violence, language, love, and so much more.

Structure wise it’s not the most experimental but all the poems are quite straightforward and I could understand most of them (which is quite rare for poetry noob like me

Thanks to the publisher for the gifted copy.

To sum up this chokers- The earth is burning and we’re busy killing each other
