This book was everything. Sometimes with books that I know there is heartbreak in some capacity, I tend to avoid because I don’t want to feel all of the feels. Forget Me Not gave me every single one of those feels on a silver platter.
I felt so connected to these characters. I felt their pain, longing, and the hope that things could be better. Ama is easily one of my favorite characters of this year. Her personality is just so fun and bubbly, she is someone I could see myself being friends with. I adored her sunshine personality and how she could just walk into a room and command everyone’s attention. Elliot had me cracking up, he isn’t a man of many words, but when he did manage to say something it was to be an overall grump. The grumpy x sunshine trope was real for this book. As was the enemies-to-lover trope.
This book is told in alternating timelines, which I thought would throw me off but didn’t. I actually appreciated the change in what was going on in the alternating chapters. We get Ama in the now and Elliot in the before. Towards the end of the novel the POVs and timeline change a bit, but I think that it was for the best reasons, and loved how the author worked this into the story.
On a side note: I really don’t like Ama’s mother, even though she isn’t featured in a majority of the story, I do truly believe that her thoughts on marriage and the fact that she has been married so many times were really the root of the problems that the main characters faced in this book. I get that her mother was essential for the story, I just really didn’t like her character.
I can not sing enough praises for this Forget Me Not. I thought I was going to have my heart ripped out of my chest but I was surprised. I finished this book with tears in my eyes. I loved every moment of it and can’t wait to read more from Julie Soto in the future.

That is the two words I would use to describe this book. I haven't read something this action packed and awesome in a long time. I'm beating myself up for not reading it sooner. It had been sitting in my bookoutlet cart for a few weeks when I finally decided it was time to order it. After leaving the book I was previously reading at the hospital, and coming home to unpack the box of books I ordered with it, I figured it was time to give it a try. Well, I am still trying to pick my jaw up off the ground.
Miki was one of those characters that you either liked or you didn't, she had a personality that I don't think some people would like. Luckily I liked her. She was smart, strong, and had some sass to her. I enjoyed her dedication to her dad and how she was worried about his drinking habits and well being and keeping her best friend Carly happy and safe. I could even say that Miki was a bit selfless, she almost (Technically did) got herself killed to save a classmate's sister who was going to be run down by a truck.
When Miki is struck by the truck she is pulled into a "lobby" as the other characters call it. She meets Jackson, Tyrone, and Richelle and Luka, a classmate of hers where she quickly fill her in on their mission: Kill the Drau and to keep your con from turning red. Your con turning red equals death. Both in the "game" and the real world. If you die you got back to the point in time where you "died" (example: Miki getting hit by the truck) but if you survive you move on in your life, occasionally getting pulled to complete missions.
Jackson is the leader of this group. He first comes off as an ass in my personal opinion. He refuses to answer Miki's question, insists that it is every man for himself. Eventually though he meets Miki outside of the "game", where he still doesn't answer any questions. But, the romance starts. The book only takes place over a short period of time in reality but there were some instances in the book where they were stuck in the "game" for days. I do feel that the romance came on a bit fast, but I have no complaint about that. As the book goes on, and we learn more about Jackson you see why he is the way he is. Which does manage to break your heart a bit.
Rush is action packed. Most of the novel takes place with in the "game" with some breaks in between. Eve created a world that managed to leave me flipping through the pages at lightening speed needing to know what was going to happen next. The ending is a bit of a painful cliffhanger. My advice: If you are to read Rush, have Push (The Game #2) close by, because I promise you are going to need more.

*Trigger Warning: This book does contain a scene with self harm.*
I'm on a horror novel kick lately, so I was super excited when my library got a copy of Teeth in the Mist. I've seen so many people say how creepy and dark and fantastic this book was so I couldn't wait to get my teeth into it. (Ha, see what I did there? Teeth.) I've loved Dawn's previous novels so I figured I was hitting a home run with Teeth in the Mist but quite honestly, I'm still not sure how I feel about this book.
I am a fast reader, I can read about 100-150 pages in about an hour depending on the genre of a novel. I am not sure if I missed certain details from events that happened in Teeth in the Mist because I was reading so fast, because I was getting that two plus two equals and goat with glowing red eyes and I am honestly confused.
I enjoyed the alternating POVs and how Roan's was in a standard story telling way and Zoey was through journal entries and video footage. We also have some of Hermione's dairy entries thrown in there. I love books that have unconventional formats so I was really excited to see that Teeth in the Mist contained letters, photos and journal entries mixed through out the novel.
I don't think that Teeth in the Mist was a horrible book. I really enjoy Dawn's writing and I loved her characters. I just didn't understand a lot of what happened and it may have been because I wasn't absorbing much detail as I was reading. But from I did understand of the story is had me turning the pages and eager to attempt to put the puzzle of this book together.
If you are looking for a book that is going to send chill down your spine and make you want to sleep with a light on, Teeth in the Mist is the perfect book for you. Sadly for me this isn't my favorite book by Dawn but I am still super excited to see what she is going to write in the future.
