Paper or Plastic is a light read, I blew through it in one sitting. I was impressed with this book, to me it felt like an almost acurate account of teenagers. Paper or Plastic is for someone who isn't looking for something heavy, but more of something fun and light.
When Lex gets caught shoplifting some lipstick with her friend Court she never expected her punishment to be working at the SmartMart for the whole summer. Maybe her summer isn't going to suck that bad though. The one benefit of her job is her super cute manager Noah Grayson, little does she know it is the same boy that her best friends and herself hate for an incident that happened two years earlier. But what if this summer, is actually the best thing that has ever happened to her?
My favorite thing about this book was the characters. They were real. Lex didn't have a perfect family, she felt like she didn't matter in their eyes, ect. It was actually refreshing to read about that for a change. At the start of the novel Lex pissed me off. All she was worried about was the shoplifting charge going on her record, couldn't she have thought about that BEFORE she shoplifted? Then her excuse for doing it was "I wanted to see if I could get away with it." Which wasn't the whole truth. Her friend Court talked her into it. When her mom managed to get her a job in exchange for the police not being called and this going on her record Lex does nothing but complain how it is going to interfere with her life. I did how ever grow to like her. Noah was too shy for his own good sometimes. This novel would have moved along sooner if he wasn't so shy. I did like him though, he was cute and sweet.
There where a few things that frustrated me though. Lex was so afraid of telling Bryce that she was dating Noah, who two years earlier gotten Bryce kicked off the baseball team for the season for something that Bryce shouldn't have done in the first place. Bryce makes it all Noah's fault when really it was his own for being an ass. But she is afraid of telling him because he would be mad and not want to be her friend anymore. Really? You're going to ruin your happiness because your friend doesn't like your boyfriend? I feel like this was one of the biggest parts of this book, Bryce just needs to get over himself.
I did enjoy Paper or Plastic, it was something light and fun I needed in between books with heavier plots. This book is perfect for people who really don't read much but do enjoy a cute love story.

I think we have all wanted a something to magically happen to us, a spell maybe to make us beautiful, wanted, to forget something tragic. We have all been there. But what happens when we would actually have this chance? Lehrman created a reality slightly different from our own where you can buy spells to make you the things you wanted. Hekamists, now illegal operate on a now black market selling these spells to people. But our actions always have consequences and I feel this is the most important message I took from this book: Your own choices have consequences.
The Cost of All Things is told in alternating points of view of Markos, Ari, Win and Kay. My favorite thing about the alternating views is Win's. He talks about his struggle with depression and it was so easy to relate to him. Suffering from depression myself it was nice to see an author hit the nail on the head for once. Kay annoyed me and that is because I see so much of myself in her. She didn't want her friends to leave her and she found a way so they couldn't. But she was also a bit whiny and where everyone was mourning the death of Win, all she was worried about was her friends leaving her. Markos broke my heart, Win's death hit him the hardest and we see his life fall apart. I didn't like Ari. The moment she said she wanted the spell to forget Win, I washed my hands with her. Even though Echo's point of view wasn't given I did enjoy her character very much, though it wish we did get her point of view to see more of her background and what it was like the be a Hekamist. Though I has a few problems with the characters they were anything but black-and-white, written with depth to them.
I really enjoyed the reality that was crafted for us, the only thing that is different from our reality is the Hekamists. Hekamists can create spells, but besides a money price there is another price too. For Kay's beauty spell she lost some of her intelligence, for Ari's forgetting spell she lost her ability to dance. There is a price for everything.
The ending of The Cost of All Things confused me a bit, but it was thrilling and heart breaking and a lot of questions you had asked are answered. So being content with it I am also upset about how somethings where left off. But Lehrman did a good job wrapping everything up so you aren't too unhappy about it. Overall I really loved The Cost of All Things and I can't wait to read more from Lehrman soon.

I won't lie Hodge is a beautiful writer, her words are gripping and descriptive and all around wonderful to read. With that alone I will read Cruel Beauty. But sadly Crimson Bound wasn't something I liked. I am not all to familiar with Little Red Riding Hood so I can't complain whether it matched up or not.
The characters in this novel weren't black and white. They were complex and developed. Which overall added to the enjoyment I did manage to have with this book. But I still managed to have issued with Rachelle, She was snarky which I liked but then she was whiny. She went on and on about horrible Bloodbounds are, how much she resents herself, how she hates the court, and how she can't find the sword. I found it incredibly annoying and just made me dislike her.
Crimson Bound didn't hold my attention well. I could only manage to to read for about a half hour before I would put it to the side. Mostly the reason for that is was how there were quite a few words that I had no clue about (actually, there were A LOT of words) and that pisses me off, especially when the plot line is majorly confusing to begin with. Plus, as beautiful as Hodge's writing was the whole Forest aspect was very cloudy for me. Overall I was dissapointed in Crimson Blood.

I saw that this was a cancer story and I automatically thought this was going to have a The Fault in Our Stars vibe to it. It didn't, thank goodness. But Invincible isn't your average cancer story. Reed created a beautiful story about a girl who now has to learn how to live her life, after she was told it was over.
Invincible is split up into two parts. Now and Then. Then was my favorite part. Evie was so sweet and caring then. She loved her friends and her boyfriend and was grateful for what ever time she had left. Now was after Evie is released from the hospital after the cancer had gone away. I hate Evie in Now. She became addicted to drugs, treated the people who loved her the most like crap. It was hard to get through the book at that point. But Evie is also such a complex character that I can understand why the changed happened. I do hope that Evie will become bearable in the next book because I did enjoy this book other then the fact of her transformation.
Some parts of this book were really deep and hard to get through. Especially in the Then part. I was up at 3 in the morning sobbing as I read certain parts. I really felt bad for what Evie was going through. Then everything surrounding Stella's death happened and it broke my heart. This book was a major tear jerker for me. I cried through at least half of it. I was disappointed in the romance part though, but I can see that this book was more about Evie then her falling in love. Which was actually quite refreshing.
Overall I really liked Invincible. If I didn't find Evie to be so unbearable in the Now part I would have given it five stars instead of four. I am excited that there is another book. Hopefully Evie will grow more in it.

You can tell I enjoyed a book when I stay up all night to read it. Those of you who have been following us for a long time now know I value my sleep more then books sometimes and to sacrifice it must mean I read something good. I did! Every Last Promise was so scarily real and heart breaking that I had to go running for a box of tissues several time.
I had one huge issue with Kayla. She tried to play God and by doing that she killed one boy and injured herself and someone else. That is what bothered me the most. I can see why she did it, the circumstances to begin with were horrible but there was another way to go about it then driving the car into a ditch purposely. Other than that I felt for Kayla, everyone hates her including her "best friends" and she is now alone. It broke my heart. Even in the end she is pretty much alone, except for one friend she made when she first returned from school.
As much as I enjoyed this book I had a few issues with it. The book was not resolved in the end at all. I am disappointed. But Jess bought up a good point: "Life doesn't always have a happy ending, so why should a book?"Which is true. So many woman are sexually assulted and then suffer in private because they are terrified. It was also frustrating that we didn't find out who died until you were nearl half way through the book, and you don't learn about her promise to Bean until the end.
